The Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu

We have spend a lot of time in Japan but always based ourselves in Tokyo. This time we took the bus from Narita to this hotel in Yokohama. The service was excellent though a little "countrified" by which I mean they tried very hard but sometimes just missed. Room was a reasonable size given this is Japan and quite well equipped
The hotel is very well placed on top of very large shopping complex and right next to some fun attractions. You can safely stroll around to the many sites within 20 minutes of the hotel. Also plenty to see zoo, Buddha.
All in all a nice change. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the main railway station and you can be in central Tokyo in 30 on the express train which is quite easy to catch

Room Tip: Worth paying for a better room

I had booked this hotel prior to a cruise. I spent 4 nights there. It more than satisfied my expectations. I took the bus from the airport and it delivered me literally to the door. Make sure you ask for a ticket to Minatomirai, rather than simply Yokohama. I enjoyed the spaciousness of the executive suite, the wonderful view, and the great service. They provide you with wonderful bathroom amenities, and fresh pyjamas every night. The breakfast is very diverse and well presented. It allowed me to sample typical japanese breakfast foods, if my mood was to not have a western style breakfast, which was very aptly available as well. It is directly linked to a huge shopping center, with numerous shops of all kinds, as well as the train station.
The formal japanese restaurant presents beautiful food.

Room Tip: I would suggest a corner suite.

If you are coming to Yokohama to attend a conference this is a good choice. It is right next to the conference centre and is part of a larger shopping centre.
The hotel is modern and well maintained. My room was snug but comfortable. Higher rooms have better views of bay although I can't say that the area is particularly attractive.
Staff are polite and very attentive.
The hotel has a number of food options but it's worth venturing into the vast shopping centre for local and international options.
Would also recommend the local art museum if you have a couple of free hours. It is within walking distance.

The locations of the hotel is key, its in a very good area. Great view and plenty of shops and restaurant to walk around.(pity that we didn't have enough time)
The view from our room was brilliant, we can see the theme park and the farriers wheel right in front of us and its surely get our 3 and 5 years old boys to get excited.
The hotel staff is very helpful while breakfast was as expected from a top hotel.
We do enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely come back.

If any one welling to visit Minato Mirai area for business or relax this hotel is highly recommended among other hotels around. Easy access to shops, restaurants, metro station to go directly to Tokyo or airports via Yokohama station. Staff are very friendly and so polite and the hotel views is excellent from different angles.

Room was HUGE, even for North American standards. King bed was probably the most comfortable we stayed in the entire visit in Japan (2 weeks). Buffet breakfast was amazing - both on the Japanese side, and the Western side. Really enjoyed our stay.

I was at Yokohama for a conference and chose this hotel over Intercontinental as it is nearer to the venue. Arrived at the hotel in the wee hours and found that no one was at the entrance to help me with the luggage, I had to carry them up to 2nd floor where the reception is (I remember Intercontinental had someone to help me with that and had expected that from a 5 star hotel). To my horror, some mix-up between Hotelclub.com and the hotel showed that my booking had been mysteriously cancelled. The reception staff was clearly unable to handle the situation and claimed they had no more room. Fortunately, a senior staff came by and allotted a room for me while they sort it out with the agent.
Those sour issues aside, the hotel was average. Rooms were spacious and the balcony was fantastic, overseeing the theme park and the bay. It also has a great lounge where is was good to chill at. Location is another plus as it is located within Queen's Mall and walking distance to Sakuragicho Station. All in all, for the same price, I will go for Intercontinental instead even if it is a little further. This was not worth the money and not up to Pan Pacific's reputation.

Room Tip: Not sure if all rooms had a balcony but be sure to ask for one. It was awesome to sit there with a c...
