The reviews of this hotel are somewhat mixed, and after staying there 3 nights I can begin to understand why. The good: The location was excellent, adjacent to a subway station (easy access to Yokohama or Shin-Yokohama stations) and a few blocks from a JR station (access to Yokohama station). The room with twin beds was reasonably priced. Wi-fi was fine. Unlike some others, I found the staff to be cooperative; not everyone speaks fluent English, but with some patience, communication wasn't a problem (and, after all, this is Japan; when Japanese tourists come to the U.S., how many hotel staff speak fluent Japanese?). The room size was small but typical of this type of hotel. There were decent restaurants within walking distance. The not-so-good: The hotel was somewhat hard to find. The room temperature was difficult to control (too warm). It was easy to hear noise from the hallway. I recommend getting a room that doesn't face the main street/subway station. This hotel is apparently popular with Japanese tour groups.

For what I paid for this hotel, I am convinced someone somewhere made a mistake. It cost not much more than a hostel dorm bed for us to stay here, and we seemed to be upgraded in the end as well.

The staff spoke English very well, and were very professional. The building is a bit older and so are the rooms, but everything was neat, clean and tidy, and the bathrooms were much bigger than the typical japanese business hotel.

It's great to have the subway right on the doorstep, but I found we walked the 500 metres or so to Kannai station to get on the JR line most of the time, the subway seemed to have less tourist attractions along the line.

The lawson on the ground floor is quite large and has just about anything you could want or need, including some awesome drinks and cheap, portable lunch options.

If you want to travel on a budget but not completely rough it, this is a great option.

We only had one night in Yokohama, so we decided to get a little nicer hotel than the hostels we were staying in. The room was a little small, but that was okay. It wasn't expensive and we don't need a lot of room. The staff were very helpful, and the value is unbeatable. I guess the only problem I would say we had was that check out time was at 10am and they charged per hour to stay beyond that. That seems a little early from what we are used to, but I guess in Japan it's not uncommon.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night, whilst we moved from Tokyo to Yokohama for a few days. We had arrived early and the front desk kindly looked after our bags for us, while we went out to explore the area and come back to check-in later. Front desk staff were great and could speak fluent English.

The room:
Smelt of stale cigarettes, even though it was a non-smoking room.
Windows couldn't be opened to get some fresh air
There was an febreze type "air freshener" to get rid of unwanted smells, which didn't help.
Bathroom was yellow in colour (possibly caused by the cigarettes), however there were toiletries we could use and was fairly clean.
The bed was 2 singles put together (in a double room) but was clean and good enough for one night.
You can hear people walk and talk in the corridors which didn't bother us too much.

There is a Lawson's on the ground floor (24hr) and a 7/11 right across the street.
The area outside is not great, but safe. i.e. There is a park with homeless people sleeping there and some sort of market/2nd hand sale which happens on the weekend.
The hotel location is right outside the train station, however you will need to walk towards the baseball stadium to find a decent place to eat.

Overall I was glad we only stayed here for one night. The rate was cheap but the room (and hotel) was dated and in need of a big renovation. This hotel is defiantly not up to the standards as the hotels in the surrounding areas and is a fair walk to the main shopping areas near the pier.

We booked our hotel from the US. Upon arrival at Isezakicho Washington Hotel, we discovered we were given only 1 bed for 3 people, 2 bath-towels, & 2 hand-towels even though we made reservation for 2 adults-1older child. We returned to the front desk, asked for 2 beds and had to pay more for that, but they moved us, without giving us more towels. They were kind, but did not understand our complaint.

The building has 18 floors, a restaurant and the front desk. Rooms are small but adequate, with very outdated carpet that looks dirty with burn spots in many places (even on the desk-chair and couch.) But the walls, bed and bathroom were clean. The room was terribly hot. They said we could turn on the A/C, but that was a 1950-ish console that we could turn on and a vent offered air...didn't feel cool though. The window is bolted, locked, cannot be opened. Odd!

The positives are: they have Internet access for free, an ice machine with a soda machine on 5 floors and as stated from others, a convenience store on the 1st floor. The staff are helpful, very kind and do ok in speaking English. We speak a bit of Japanese too, so we were able to make our requests heard.

We tried the breakfast buffet-only once. It wasn't satisfying to any of us, but provided the typical J-breakfast of miso soup, rice, fish, and pickled veggies. The more western side had mini-croissants, mini-pancakes, plain yoghurt, grapefruit and orange slices. There was coffee, tea, juice and milk. It was very kid-friendly with the choices. I guess there was some kind of sausage (looked like a mini-hotdog instead) and the scrambled eggs were...runny, so we passed on those.

We booked for a week, had paid ahead of time, so we stayed. The area of the hotel is ideal with transportation near, and a comfortable shopping strip only 5 minutes away on foot. We were able to do all what we wanted to do. So the location is great!
