Amazing street - you have to call into the Union shop to see all the imported goods and of course to get one of the shopping bags. Just wish I had more money! Lovely bakery's and little bars tucked away make it a fabulous walk.

Nice little walk, restaurants get quite busy at night. The MotoMachi Union grocery store is a great option if you want to pick up something to eat and take it to a nearby park or down by the water. Good place to window shop.

Motomachi shopping street and the surrounding area is one of my favorite areas to go out for a stroll. While there's many people, it just doesn't seem as bustling as other areas in Yokohama. Many of the stores are expensive foreign brands so I don't do much in the way of shopping but the wide streets (that are closed on Sundays) makes for an enjoyable experience. There is an international grocery store, numerous cafes and bakeries, restaurants, wine shops and more.

Motomachi can easily be combined with a visit to Chinatown (across the river) or head up the hill to all the foreigners home and cemetery. Both areas are nice for walking as well.

Motomachi shopping strip is perfect for a leisurely stroll and well worth exploring whether you are looking for the latest puffer jacket (seems every Japanese person owns one to keep the winter chills at bay!) or wanting to combine some window shopping with a meal or coffee. The street is full of boutiques and some craft shops and numerous cafes. Many of the small cute restaurants can be found in the side streets running off Motomachi. Matomachi station is at one end of the strip and the other end takes you a more concentrated dining area. The strip is worth combining with a stroll through Yokohama's China town as it is only a mere 5-10 minutes away depending on the end of the street that you started at. Just about anything can be purchased on Motomachi shopping street- on the occasions I have visited, I have purchased boots, a European jacket, a funky scarf, coffee, food from the excellent delicatessen Union and a crepe from the lovely crepe van at the top of the strip closest to Motomachi station. Just don't forget to explore the various back and side streets. And if you are looking for an amazing shop that stocks everything imaginable, make the effort to walk up past the Motomachi station towards the freeway to a shop called Don Quijote. Perfect for that amusing mask, new watch, joke gift or grocery.

This was a nice shopping area. Service at Japanese stores is so amazing. We had no problem grabbing a taxi to go back to the hotel with our packages. We also found plenty of workers in the stores that spoke some english, which was very helpful.
