“Great stay at the Richmond Hotel Premier Musashikosugi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

I stayed at the Richmond Hotel Premier Musashikosugi during the first week of July 2013.
I had a single room and I have no complaints about it or anything during my stay. The air conditioning worked quite well, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It was very quiet which I appreciated - no noise from the hallway. The hotel is very convenient to two train stations that are within a 5 min walk from the hotel. There is a supermarket next door to pick up food, prepared meals and beverages, etc. My hotel stay included breakfast and the food choices were good and it varied from day to day. I ate dinner at the hotel restaurant just once because I wanted to have dinner at area restaurants.
There is a shopping mall within a 5 min walk. I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again.

this is the second time that i have stayed at this hotel, and in a word, fantastic! to elaborate:

anybody who knows the hotel market in Japan is well-aware of the massive gap between the garden-variety no-frills yet claustrophobic business hotels that dominate the market here. a quick exploration of prices and establishments finds a gaping price hole between the boutique, business and blunt end of the market and their more prickly, sharper, almost snobbish market bullies occupying the shinjuku, shibuya, roppongi, tourist and business markets. they latter are world class, and priced accordingly. the former are affordable, yet offer little in the way of creature comforts, space and peace of mind.

enter prem musashi!

this place, for on their best day, the price of a single bedroom at your name-brand global franchise hotel, one can get a spacious, well-appointed and comfy queen bedroom measuring a whopping 30m sqd, with a massive 52inch lcd display, free internet (both wi-fi and corded), as well as, wait for it, a massage chair to boot!!! to top it off, breakfast is an add-n at 900yen, and play as you go movies (incl. jp0rn) is just a 1,000 yen note away. for those that packed light you can even hire a laptop for 100yen per day. thats right, free internet and a compuet for $1 per day. the place defies the market norms.

yes there are drawbacks:

- its in kawasaki, just outside tokyo - however as part of a massive investment boom, there is an extensive shopping, lifestyle ad transport community to support it. the pain the ar$e narita airport is linked to the adjoining train station through the narita express, meaning you can jump on the train from the airport and alight without transfers just as easy as if yu were staying at tokyo station.
- its in kawasaki - but just one stop and you are on the JR line that connects you to most places that you need to go as either a leisure traveller or in town to biz it up.
- fridge is not stocked - try the vending machine on level 15, complete with ice machine and plastic bags for your carrying convenience if you wish to stock up on beverages.

- what other drawbacks?

frankly i cannot think of any others. perhaps the lack of daytime room service is a bummer, but what business do you have being cooped up in your room in tokyo during the day anway!

if you feel like sleeping in, stick one of the magnet signs on your door alerting maid service that you wish to pass today and be a bum.

dirty towels you say? no worries, cos in response, said maid service will kindly leave a care package outside your door with clean towels, dressing gown, amenities and fresh bottled water. awesome for those feeling like a lazy sunday sleep in.

in other words, if you can handle being outside tokyo proper and don't want to break the bank, then this hotel is THE #1 choice. check the hotel site for room and discount options.

Being close to the railway stations this Hotel is in a perfect location to move around the Tokyo area without having to pay Tokyo prices, the Narita express gets you to and from the airport in style. Had meetings in Yokohama, Hachioji and Musashi Kosugi all within easy reach
Beds are comfortable the Breakfast is a feast with a mixture of Japanese and Western food.
It is a quiet location with some restaurants in the local area (walking distance) Gosso is one we tried which is very good and welcoming very accomodating to Westerners
There is no bar in the hotel so for social congregation you have to go out, might be a bit lonely for the lone traveller

your will get more than what you're expecting in term of cleaning services, wonderful furnishing, well equipped rooms and hotel lobby. the staff are very friendly and helpful. the rooms are strangely compact and squeezed ><.

the room doesn't have a mini bar and there is a small place either to lie your bag or to hang your clothes.

the very annoying point is the restaurant as the only food available is what is prepared, you can not even ask for omelet for example. and the food are completely japanese from cuisine !!

Room Tip: try lower floors for mobile coverage and west side for quiet room away from train noise.

This hotel is ideally located near the train stations for the Airport (Nex) and other lines. The cost is reasonable, so value for the money. Service is what you would expect in Japan.
Rooms are small but comfortable.

If you are looking for a quite business hotel on the outskirts of Tokyo city (abt 30 mins away via train), then you can consider staying at the Richmond Premier hotel. This hotel is located just 3 mins walk away from the Musashikosugi train station, which makes it pretty ideal for travelling around, plus the station has an direct express train to Narita airport (NEX - check out their website for travel schedule time & fare)

The rooms is the hotel are average size, well equipped, clean and well maintained. There is no iron board and iron in the room, you have to request it from the front reception (on the 5th floor) and they will give you this adorable looking iron set.

The room come with an massage chair, so for those long workdays it pretty ideal, to sit back and get a free electronic massage. The free wifi connection in the room is pretty strong, up to 20mbs when i checked.

Breakfast can be a bit challenging as the dining room is pretty small and it can only occupy less than 30 pax at time, so go early (Breakfast starts at 6.30am) or go after 9pm (when most of the business travelers have left). During this rush hour, the hotel's 2 lift may be packed and you may also have to wait a couple more minutes extra. The front reception staffs are helpful, and they will try to assist you as best as they can.

Around the hotel, there are a few supermarkets (one of which closes at 1am), and restaurants. You may want to try walking around exploring some the nearby restaurants for good local food.

Overall this is a good hotel for business travelers, so holiday seekers unless there is something around the area which I may have missed then you may need to explore further.

Room Tip: You may want to get rooms at the higher floor facing the mount fuji :)

Yeh it was very nice. Clean fairly quiet apart from the occasional banging from somewhere. Dull thuds seemed to travel through the building a bit. Very nice staff. And the lady in the restaurant was so nice and sweet! I had the double premier room which was a good size and a nice massage chair. It is in a good location within easy walking distance of the JR and another line for going anywhere. Vending machines down the hall if you fancy a beer at any time!
