“Indulge yourself”

This is one of the pricier hotel I have booked in my trip, but Hakone is a touristy area so it is as expected. The hotel has great location, within five minutes walk from Hakone-yumoto station, which is the end stop if you took romance train from Shinjuku. You can experience all different modes of transportation Hakone offers starting from here. Plenty of bus routes, and close to Odawara if you need to catch bullet trains.

You have to walk over a short bridge and an elevator will take you up to hotel level. Spacious lobby, and great service from the staff. I arrive early at noon, but they allow me to deposit my bags and promise to deliver my bags to my room when available, so I can go tour in the area. There was a small mixed up that the receptionist told me breakfast wasn't included even though it was stated on my reservation receipt, but it was sorted out later with another receptionist.
When I returned in the afternoon, a hotel staff personally took me to my room, and all my bags had already been delivered. I booked a single room, but I got a free upgrade to a double room. The room is pretty good size even with a sofa area.

The hot spring was really good with spacious pool area. I love the outdoor area especially at night. I think I even heard monkeys or weird animal sound, which is exciting and freaks me out at the same time. Bottom line, it was very comfortable, relaxing, and you felt like you have the entire place to yourself.

Yumoto Fujiya has 3 or 4 different restaurants(Japanese, Chinese, and French) inside and also a bakery shop. The restaurants are very pricey, set dinner ranges from the cheapest $35 to $100 above. There weren't many restaurants in the immediate yumoto station area let along ones opening for dinner, so I was compelled to eat in the restaurant. Then I found out you have a lot more choices (with reasonable pricing) if you took a 15 minute train to Odawara and eat there, especially if you have Hakone pass you can ride free.

Overall great hotel and great experience. Will definitely stay here again when I need to indulge myself a little.

The Yumoto Fujiya is more of a western style hotel. The check in service was a little weird for me. Instead of receiving a card key for my room after checking in, we were told to wait for someone to show us to our room. We waited for about 5 minutes before we were greeted by a pleasant employee who explained how the card key works, dining in the hotel and some other things. We still had to wheel and carry our own luggage to the room. The onsen is nice. 2 large indoor pools - one that is still the other with underwater jets. There are 2 outdoor pools. 1 is stone with very comfortable carve outs all along the perimeter. The other is a rectangular cedar pool. Both can accommodate about 10 - 12 people each. The Japanese sit down dining restaurant in the hotel sucks. Eat at the (pricey) buffet. Better yet, eat at the izakaya on the 2nd floor. Better bang for your buck. And they open till midnight.

Room Tip: Convenient westernized hotel. Stay elsewhere if you want more of a Japanese experience.

We stayed at the Yumoto Fujiya Hotel for 2 nights while we were in Hakone. The staff at the check-in counter were great and informed us that unfortunately there weren't many restaurants around the area and even the ones that were around would not be open until very late so we decided to book with them for dinner at the Japanese restaurant inside of the hotel.

The room was of a moderate size with not much of a view of the roof of the neighbouring building but for a 2 night stay it was acceptable.

Despite the hotel not being that close to Hakone itself, the location was great in that it was very close to the JR station and we could easily hop on a bus to go to Hakone during the day (about 40 minutes travel, one way).

The hotel offers a number of services including a large public onsen, a games room and 3 or 4 restaurants. I would stay here again except be aware that the restaurants are not as cheap as one might like, but they are of good quality

We stayed at this hotel for 3 night as a base for exploring the Hakone area hoping to get a good view of Mt Fuji.
The location is convenient, a short walk from the railway station. There is an external lift to take you up to the hotel from road level. The hotel overlooks the town, railway station, bus stops and shops.
The staff were friendly, polite and helpful with a staff member who seemed dedicated to help non Japanese speakers. We were escorted to our room and shown the various features. The room was quite spacious for a Japanese hotel with the usual "capsule style" bathroom and firm yet comfortable beds. All the usual amenities supplied including yukatas and slippers for the hotel and onsen and tea making facilities. You won't need bottled water as the water is clean and safe for drinking. Our room had quite a nice view partly of the river and mountains. We could open a window which was great as we found the heating a bit high for our liking. The sound of the river at night was very soothing.
This is a large traditional Japanese hotel which is quiet at night so a good night's sleep is possible despite being busy.
Our room was serviced every day with beds made and fresh towels and yukatas provided. A Japanese cake was left with fresh tea supplies every day. If you want coffee, the cafe near reception makes quite good lattes etc with a huge selection of cakes and bakery goods. Also there is a range of coffees and teas available at breakfast. The variety at the breakfast buffet was excellent with both Japanese and Western items available. You could also have breakfast in another restaurant with A La Carte menu.
The onsen was excellent, towels and the usual shampoo, conditioner and body soap supplied. You don't need swimming attire and there is an information board explaining the customs etc for using the facility. Being a large hotel it was busy a lot of the time but meal times tended to be quieter and if really shy you could book a private bath for about 1000 yen for 45 mins which is plenty of time. It was also open until quite late....11pm mostly.
The wifi varied a little. They advertise as being available in the lobby but sometimes we could access it in our room.
There were 3 restaurants available for dinner, Japanese, Chinese and French but we ate out at small local places. Be aware that they usually close earlyish by western standards. Check the times.
The buses and trains leave frequently for the other small towns in the area and if you buy the Hakone free pass you could take as many trips as you like depending upon whether you buy a 2 or 3 day pass. Well worth trying all the types of transport available.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel and despite being the only non-Japanese guests felt very welcome and taken care of. Our attempts at phrase book Japanese were accepted with good grace and humour.

I suggest this hotel for stay in Hakone 2 or 3 days. The location is very good, near the train station, but outside the noise (for reach the hotel we must take an elevator on the little mountain, the hotel is up).
The room is biggest for the japanese standard, and have all confort.
The wifi is available only in the hall.
It is possible use the Sento (public bathroom) for free; amazing experience!
The price is little bit high.

It is just located minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto Station after crossing a bridge. The hotel may be old but Western/Japanese style room for 4 person is spacious and clean, with a balcony. Even though our room is facing the train station, there wasn't much noise at night for a comfortable sleep. The hotel also provide kimono set for each of us than usual bathrobe.

I find the hotel staffs are very helpful and courteous, and able to communicate with basic English. They even walk us up to our room, explain the room facilities and help to setup the Japanese style bedding on the tatami for the night.

By default they provided 4 sets of adult kimono, and they sent us 2 sets of children kimono upon request.

The shops and restaurants nearby closed by very early by 6pm. If you need to find food, you may order at the pub at second floor and bring it yourself to room.

We didn't use the spa facilities as it seems crowded in the evening.

After being lost during the buses journey from Fuji-Kawaguchiko to Hakone ( we took 4 different buses in 4 different cities) This hotel saved our trip!

It is located Not far from the train station (hakone Yumoto station).. just cross the street (there's a big bridge with lift).. and another bridge over the river (good view!).. about 5-7 minutes from station. We carried our own luggages.

after the bridge turn right, and see the lift goes up directly to the hotel.

The room is the biggest we had in Japan! very big, quiet and panoramic! and the toilet is huge!
Got onsen (remember to wash your body first before using the hot pool)..

too bad the breakfast and the food is really really expensive...
but its okay for me, since there are plenty place to eat to choose near the train station. some more there are convenient stores (i forget the name, maybe its 7eleven or something) sell delicious cheap foods!

We love it! :)
