Note that the Ropeway is closed due to increased volcanic activity. Buses are available picking passengers between Togendai and Sounzan, stopping at Ubako.

Lake Ashi is huge and had nice views. Theres the trip on the lake in the pirate ship, the viwe of Mt. Fuji (if your lucky), the floating Tori gate, the shrines and maybe a bit of shopping at the souvenir shops. Once you've seen quite a bit of Hokane, relax at a local onsen. You can do a day trip to Hokane if you are short of time..

The Ropeway was closed due to volcanic activity; however, we were able to take the cable car from Gora station to an area close to the summit. Buses were provided to take us to the Lake. Sulfur smell was noticeable.

If you are taking the cruise going north on Lake Ashi, you will either take the bus or the Hakone Ropeway to go to Gora. If you are going this direction, you will get off the cruise and go to gateway to the Ropeway at Togendai-Ko. You will ride up to Ubako and then over to Owakudani. From the Ropeway car, if the weather is clear, you will get absolutely great views of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji in the distance as you look back. If the conditions are safe, you can get off at Owakudani and experience the active volcanic zone there. You can reboard the Ropeway to continue down the other side of the mountain to Sounzan to continue the journey onto Gora.
