A truly breathtaking place - unique in its position and beauty. Remember to take your Hakone day pass coupons (we didn't).

A must not only for art lovers but for anyone who wants to witness something special.

The Hakone Open Air Museum is a wonderful opening to Mount Fuji and an unforgettable stop while exploring Japan. Zabojad recalls wonderful memories during it's stay in the Park and rides in the cabines. the boat and lake side are definately giving the taste of a Fairy tale while the Museum is presenting a full set of artifacts exposed to the delight of the sun. Highly recomended stop for any traveller in the area.

For adults - fantastic views of Hakone coupled with great artwork. The Picasso exhibit is a great showing of his artwork (although I always thought it was overrated). Go early if you can, before it gets too crowded. Make it a quick, early morning, excursion.

For families - the kids running around the place seemed to have an absolute blast. There's plenty for them to do (targeted at 6 and younger) which solo adults will kind of go "meh" There was one cool exhibit for them that I wanted to get a closer looks at and take pictures, but held off realizing that would be odd for a grown man by himself. Also, there are some statues in the park that don't seem totally appropriate, like a naked man, face-down-planted-in-the-grass statue.

Word of warning - if you ask Google for walking directions, they may send you to the back loading dock, like it did for me, and finding the park from there can be a pain. It even sent me on a forest trail which seemingly hadn't been used in months. It was quite beautiful, as scary as it was to hike alone knowing no one would find my body for a long time if something were to happen.

The Museum is a beautifully landscaped park with wonderful art and the mountains as a backdrop. I am so glad we were able to enjoy this park. I would love to see it at different times in the year when the outdoor setting changes.

An amazing art space. We visited in a snow storm which added even more to the experience. Do not miss this if you are in Hakone. Get a discount with your travel card. Great cafe and shop too.
