The hotel is in a supreme location surrounded by trees and lake.Walk by the lake shore is very appealing.Room is of generous dimension, clean and efficient. Breakfast is well presented with Western choices and Japanese delights.Definitely a place to be away from the big smoke.Love it.

From two weeks of touring Japan this was probably our most spacious room in a hotel.
The bedroom was large with a small balcony overlooking a picturesque lake.
We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant and the food was tasty and well presented. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.
The layout of this hotel was confusing, with some members of our party finding it very difficult to find their way around. Having said that the staff were particularly helpful in making sure that you knew how to access the elevators etc.
The onsen was lovely and if you fancy a relaxing break this hotel would be well worth considering. Lots to do in the area.

On Lake Ashinoko with view of Mt Fuji from its lake front garden I chose the right hotel. The Mt Fuji view on my last day was priceless!

It is a bit dated but it must have been grand when new judging by its lobby.

The bedroom is spacious, with sofa and balcony. The wash basin is outside of the toilet and bath which is a bit strange.

The onsen is just a steamed bath. No sulphur. No swimsuit so one must go naked, which can be an unusual experience for non Japanese.

No gym.

The buffet breakfast is limited in spread but good quality at the Lakeside Grill. Contrary to its name there is no view of the lake from the restaurant.

However they seemed obsessed with dinner appointment time. On Saturday it was a buffet. I booked 730pm but came early at 645pm as I was hungry. The restaurant was half full but they insisted I came back at 730pm.

On Sunday night it was a set menu. I could not eat beef which was in the starter. No effort was made to replace the items. In several encounters I have found Japanese hotel staff to be inflexible. They need training to better accommodate customers!

Importantly the only information pre-arrival was shuttle from Odawara station. But I came by Romance Car and took a bus from Hakone Yumoto to Motohakone. No information on shuttle from Motohakone to hotel before arrival. This is unbefitting a premium hotel like Prince.

They need improvement in information and service.

We had our Tokyo accommodation book our complimentary bus transfer from Odawara which was perfect, easily found.
(Train station west exit, by the statue)
Professional check in and out.
Tower bedrooms are huge after the Tokyo "box". Everything is slightly dated though comfortable and very peaceful.
Tattoos are not allowed in Japanese "public" pools so this is not a place for 38% of Westerners (43-48% of Italians, Swedes, Americans, Australians) if that is what you are looking for. So unfortunately I have no idea what the Onsen is like. There is no private pools here - other more modern establishments may have them.
Like most resorts, the shop and restaurants are expensive so that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
There is a free shuttle to town on the hour which returns on the half hour up to 1930. The town is pretty much dead by then.
Good local bus routes which have IC/sucra card payments, cash, or the Hokone free pass.
Didn't eat here due to the poor ratings. Breakfast was good. Didn't see a bar (unless it's the few bottles are the end of the breakfast dining room.
Would stay more central next time (with a private pool)

We stayed one night and the room was very nice, as was the onsen. We stayed 4 in one room. Nice surroundings, and quiet except from all the rumbling and large boooms from the military area close by. We had a beautiful view to Mount Fuji in the early morning
