Happy to find this restaurant while looking for dinner after 6pm as it was only one of 2 that were open on the main street. We arrived at 5.45pm and were quickly seated at the tatami seats as the regular tables were taken. We had charcoal grilled Saba fish set, salt salmon grill set and chicken teriyaki. Salt salmon was juicy and the skin was crisp with great flavour. Chicken teriyaki was good with light teriyaki sauce. Saba fish has a strong fishy taste but was well done. The set came with miso soup, white rice and some Japanese pickles. The sesame and crispy bits rice topping (I assume it is for rice anyway) was really nice and we purchased one. Prices were good. Waitpersons spoke little English but they have English menu so sign language worked. As we walked out, we saw fried tofu and rice onigiri being grilled, looks good. There was a line waiting at around 6.30pm, I saw reserved signs on the other table so assume they take reservations. Too bad we are only spending a night on Hakone-Yumoto so unable to re-visit.

Food is very delicious and fresh. The price is okay and not so expensive. We were bit surprise when we walk out to find most of the restaurant is close already around 7pm and this restaurant is the one still open till late. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

Most restaurants in Hakone close really early (6pm). So if you really want to dine options are limited. I had my diner at the bar so you have a great view on the kitchen and the grill. The young servants are very friendly. I loved my set meal with Teriyaki chicken on the grill with a cold beer. Great value. I can really appreciate it when people make the effort opening late for their tourist clients.

Came to Hakone without much expectation. Came to this restaurant by chance and found the food are good and as well as service. They provided English menu and the waiters speak a little English which helps. Overall, I like this restaurant.

We were looking for somewhere reasonably priced for dinner and found Kinosuke. The food was delicious, service excellent (particularly in answering our questions) and we enjoyed our first sake! (again on the recommendation of our waitress).

Highly recommend it.
