Personally I prefer traditional hot spring hotel. Beautiful interior and craftsmanship, dated back to decades. The food were served in beautiful ceramics and serving by staff that are helpful and knowledgable, they looking like 60+ and they are taking the job seriously. This place is where you can relax and slow down after you came from busy Tokyo city

Excellent Private open air Onsen. We stayed here for one night and it was super relaxing. The room is clean and pretty with all necessary amenities.
The dinner and breakfast are preset menu and they were amazing. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it to everyone. Staff is extremely friendly; they do speak English.
It’s about t 7 mins walk from Hakone Yomoto station.

Stayed one night in Japanese Room -Open Air Bath (Houjyou room):
1. Segregated rooms for onsen, make-up table, dining/living room, toilet, bedroom and balcony.
2. Night wear, slippers, safe, air conditioning and disposable toothbrush and toothpaste are available
3. No free wifi
4. Breakfast and dinner provided - food presentation is awesome and taste great.
(make sure you keep an empty stomach for the meals)
5. 5-8 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto station. Go straight across the bridge in front of Yaeikan and turn right to Hakone Yumoto station.

Do note they accept only cash payment for rooms.

Overall, a good experience stay in modern Yaeikan Ryokan.
(If you prefer older and traditional Ryokan, see my other review)

What a great ryokan! We had a private bath and were able to totally relax. The staff was very kind and provided great service. The keiseki meals were absolutely delicious. We would recommend this place to anyone that goes to Hakone.

This traditional ryokan is conveniently located near Hakone Yumoto station. Just 6 minutes walk away. Our room for 4 has an en-suite toilet and sink but no shower facilities. Room comes complete with toiletries, breakfast and dinner. The meals are not up to expectation though. Bathroom and onsen are located on level 1. Private onsen room for 2 requires reservation upon check in. Family onsen good for 4 do not need reservation but there's only 1. Both are available free of charge. The Yuzu soft serve ice cream (¥320) at Sugi Honey shop along the main street where Hakone Yumoto station is definitely worth mentioning.
