We were in Hakone for the annual Daimyo Procession on November 3, a popular time to be in Hakone. Consequently, rooms were in high demand and room rates high. Our stay at this ryokan was the highest we’ve paid so far for a ryokan on our trips to Japan. Dinners are one of the highlights of a ryokan stay for us, but our dinner here, while generous in servings, was mediocre in quality of ingredients and preparation.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the public baths are clean and relaxing.

Room tip: Rooms were quiet on the third floor.

Booking process was easy. Front desk staff helpful. There was a small language barrier upon arrival but we eventually got our needs taken care of. Baths in room and public paths out in the grounds. 3 private baths to choose from (for small families or private groups) and one large Group bath, in addition to the private room bath located on the balcony of our room (one of 24 or so available in the whole ryokan). Lovely amenities available at various times (Ice pops and dinner services, etc.) Overall a great and unique experience!

Room tip: Amenity Schedule is provided at check in, be sure you don't miss a treat!

We booked a room for three nights for two adults and two kids in the old building. When we saw the room we decided we couldn't stay as it was old and tired. But as we had prepayed we decided to try and negotiate a room in the new wing. However these rooms only sleep three. We ended up with two rooms, but this took an hour and a half of negotiation and was exhausting.

The hotel is very keen for you to have the hot pot meal rather that the BBQ for dinner. When we wanted two BBQ dinners and only one hot pot,the front desk seemed incredulous. When we fronted up at the BBQ on the third night we had a different menu to our first night, and different to everyone else in the restaurant.

Another hour later we convinced the restraunt that just because this was the second BBQ meal of our stay that we would not be served a lesser menu.

The bar opens for two hours from 10 pm. The onsens are only average. The food is OK in a mass produced sort of way, and falls well short of what can be had in most restaurants. But the portions are large. And they offer all you can drink for an hour for 2500 Yen.

Don't come to this hotel and expect an easy time or a gracious experience. Don' come with four people and expect to fit in one room. And if you do come only stay one or two nights and only in the new building (with the outside baths).

Stayed here for a night while visiting the area. Top quality room with modern facilities. Food is pretty good as well for both dinner and breakfast. Not all staff members speak English but managed okay.

The hotel has a few beautifully setup outdoor private onsen. Make sure you don't miss these.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in early May 2018. The facilities and rooms were very comfortable and spotless. The service was amazing - attentive and responsive. Our package included meals, which I would highly recommend that to other travelers as it was quite the experience and tasty. While few staff spoke English, the hotel was well prepared for English-speaking travelers with handouts that outlined all necessary information. This hotel was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
