Mercure Hotel Narita
Ranked #12 of 30 Hotels / Ryokan in Narita

The location of the hotel is really good - right next to the JR Narita station. However, the hotel gives no value for money. The room needed a refurbishment. The wired Internet is available, but you have to pay for it. I didn't like the plastic bathroom. I stayed in better hostels in Japan than this hotel is, and they were cheaper as well. I enjoyed an in-house japanese restaurant and a free airport shuttle bus. The western-style breakfast was avarage - nothing special.

Mercure is a well recognized brand name and I have to admit, I was rather disappointed with this hotel. The location is excellent, a very short walk to the train station that links Narita Airport. The lobby is nice and the staff correct and professional, if rather cold. The rest of the facilities, though, are rather old and worn, the rooms are on the small side and also quite in need of renovation. You might also end up hearing the trains passing by, since the hotel is located between two railway lines. Mattresses were rather hard too.

This hotel is in an excellent central position in Narita Town for both connecting airlines and railway throughout Japan.
The hotel is simple and clean, the rooms exceptionally clean and soundproof. For tall people it is a bit difficult because the bathroom is installed as a single earthquake-proof entity and has a very low ceiling and the bath is minuscule and really only useful as a shower.
The people both on Reception and in Housekeeping are warm and friendly and will do anything to help you. The restaurant is small but the breakfast is good and also serves a good hamburger!
The Wi-Fi in the room is cheap and faster than most hotels.
Narita Town is very interesting as it is very close to the famous Narita-san Temples, so if you wish for a restful walk in the fresh air I cannot recommend visiting them more enthusiastically.
The Mercure is good value for money and I would recommend staying there for short trips and being in between flights. A longer stay would be rather difficult because at 6'4" I found the beds rather short and the pillows are very small.

Room Tip: Some people have complained about noise from the two railways stations but I sleep quite lightly and...

So close to airport, and the train links. Food is ok, but you are not here to eat Western, some great places for authentic food, just down the road. Clean rooms, but a bit tired, beds not that comfy, but plenty of hot water, smiling faces and staff, so willing to please. Handy to have a fridge in the room and drinks machines nearby. Great swimming pool on top. Smoking rooms available, and you can smoke in the bar, over an excellent chardonnay at a reasonable price, alongside freshly made popcorn!

Room Tip: Try to get in the annexe, a bit quieter from station.

The Hotel is comfortable and very easily accessible by walk through the Narita station. It very close to the airport terminals and serviced frequent by bus shuttles (free of charge) as well. Price is competitive. Unfortunately until midnight and from 5.00 am a bell similar to that of a crossing level will keep you awake because it is located in between two rail stations (at least if your room is located in the annex wing, but probably also in the main Bld). So that bring earplugs in your are a light sleeper. Narita is a nice village that deserves a stop to visit a remarkable temple. Globally, I recommend it.

This is the perfect place to stay after a long flight into Japan. It is so convenient from narita airport either via the shuttle bus or via the metro. It is 1 stop from narita airport train station to narita and literally a 3 minute walk to the hotel - it does not get better than that !
The rooms are exceptionally clean and was more than adequate for a 1 night stay. There is also a 24 hour McDonald's for those that fly in late at night. It was also well priced , definitely highly recommended as an airport hotel.

There's only one significant thing to say in favour of this hotel: it's location. It is useful as a place to collapse after a long flight into Tokyo Narita airport, and even then, it's not exactly at the airport but in the town of Narita, about a 20-minute (free) shuttle bus journey away. I noticed a British Airways crew checking in as I was checking out. The staff are welcoming and cheerful, and the room prices are reasonable. But the whole place is very tired, and the corridors and rooms rather shabby, pervaded by a musty odour. Bathrooms are adequate, just. Breakfast costs €12 for a modest selection of Western items. Overall, the standards are significantly below those of other Mercure hotels I have used in a variety of countries. Would I stay here again? Probably not, as I would now prefer to go into Tokyo and stay at a better hotel, despite the 90 minute journey.

Room Tip: Stay at a different hotel.
