“Good overnight Narita hotel option with free shuttle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

I booked 2 standard double rooms to accommodate the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 little ones). We split 1 adult 1 child per room but used one of the two rooms as our base where we left majority of our luggage. Unfortunately our rooms were not interconnecting however we were 2 doors apart. There was not an interconnecting option available for our stay after asking at reception. We took the hotel’s shuttle bus from the airport (free) & were glad to arrive after a long flight from Europe. We used the laundry facilities at a charge. I found the staff at reception so helpful to each question we had. With the two children we decided to remain at the hotel & dine in. The breakfast was great we found options for us & the children, the dinner we again had no problems with ordering something for each of us. We liked the convenience of having a little shop doors away to buy some basic items for the room like fresh fruit & drinks. There is a McDonalds just before the hotel and also the bus & train station. I took a trip to the AEON mall (on public transport with cost) & it was certainly worth the trip! A very large supermarket is there, many shops of clothes, shoes, home wares & also eateries. For us it was a good layover hotel, we would have preferred an interconnecting room for our own personal needs but it was a good clean good priced option for 1 night between flights.

If you're staying in Narita, this is one of the better options. I've stayed in a couple other hotels around Narita before, and they are usually in the middle of nowhere. This hotel however is right in between the 2 trains stations, with many shops around the area.

There is also a few convenience stores, and a 24hrs McDonalds just within a minute's walk from the hotel. The train stations are also just 2 minutes away! We can actually see the train tracks from our hotel room.

The hotel provides a free shuttle service to the airport but to go to Aeon you will need to use the public shuttle service which cost 200yen per trip. The shuttle bus stop is just around the corner from the hotel.

The internet is unfortunately chargeable, 500yen for 24hrs. There is a self-service laundry room which charges a reasonable price.

The room is small, but normal for a Japanese hotel. The bathroom has a pretty low ceiling, especially when taking a shower in the bathtub. Taller people might have trouble when taking a shower. Our bathroom has a basic bidet toilet.

The hotel is definitely feeling the years, but for the location and convenience I don't mind staying there again.

Airport shuttle bus in the evening only travels every hour. Hotel very old and basic. Location handy for train connections.Had a chicken dish in the Japanese restaurant which was barely eatable.

What a great little hotel! Just minutes from the airport and right in the middle of Narita. Its convenient and great value for money. Yes it is small but normal for Japan and very nicely fitted out. The stations are both less than 100m away and Narita is a great stop over in my opinion. The nearby temple is wonderful and its gardens superb. I would definitely stay there again though a tad far for a daily commute to Tokyo.

Good location . 2 minutes from subway station and 1 hour to Tokyo central station. Price is very good and the difference for a Tokyo Hotel you can spend nice dinner. The single rooms are really very small the bed is against the wall ! The TV only BBC news and the other Japanese . Internet only by cable and you must pay it . Around the hotel it is easy to find nice small restaurants . Also a good bus to the airport almost every hour . Staff at the reception need to improve to Mercure standards !

not fancy but perfectly adequate hotel for when you first arrive in Japan and want to rest before heading to Tokyo which is about 1 hour by train away from Narita airport. Narita is a lovely small city with lots of restaurants and shops and a wonderful temple and garden to visit which is also a perfect start to a tour of cultural Japan.
the Mercure Hotel has basic but clean facilites, very nice and helpful staff and is located minutes walk away from both train stations.
breakfast is unimaginative but very good

We have stayed here a couple of times and enjoy being in Narita town where we can walk to restaurants and experience being surrounded by some traditional Japanese culture-rather than being isolated in one of the other more luxurious airport hotels. As previously mentioned the rooms are a little weary and could do with a good makeover-however the hotel is clean, not too expensive and the staff are very helpful. The walk from the hotel to the famous temple down a street lined with restaurants both modern and traditional as well as a few bars catering to airline crews and expats is really all there is to see and do in Narita town. There are some nice shops selling basket ware and souvenirs etc Brave people will try one of the eel restaurants..a local delicacy and very tasty. If there is enough time to go into Tokyo itself there are two train stations a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We went with JR as we found their station staff very helpful .Buying a ticket can be a challenge if you are not familiar with the machines. We would have no hesitation staying here again in the future.....
