“We loved our time with Katsumi!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

On our way home to the states, we had a 10 hour layover and contacted Katsumi. Since he had another group booked that day, he was kind enough to give us a discounted rate if we wanted to join. What a wonderful surprise.

The tour was personal and insightful. We were brought to an impressive temple ceremony in the morning. Katsumi showed us around old Narita, brought us to the oldest farm in the area as well as a pit stop at a Japanese 7/11. The latter may sound silly, but, it was actually really fun to explore what is popular locally. 7/11 coffee in Japan is really good, btw :) He asked our opinion every step of the way, what our preference were and tailored our tour. In the same 4 hour tour we also saw the largest Buddha in the world. We weren't ready to be back at the airport when the couple (mother/daughter) we were with had to go back, so we asked to extend.

He kindly obliged and we had lunch with him and spent another 2 hours exploring local foods and culture. He is an absolute joy. Very knowledgeable and pleasure to converse with. We've been recommending him to all our friends and family heading to Asia. If you have a few hours to spare, give him a call, you will not regret it! Narita is beautiful and Katsumi is your go-to guy for the area.

“Excellent Way To Spend Time On A Layover”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

We had a 12 hour layover at Narita & emailed Katsumi with our travel plans. He met us at the airport at the promised time & took us to 4 different walking tours where he explained all of the local & Japanese history related to each site. Very educational & well worth the time & money!

“Recent Tour January 9, 2014”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

Katsumi is the owner and is very responsive to inquiries and making pick up arrangements. Met us at the airport and then gave a very personal tour to local sites and events. Katsumi provides an unique personal insight into all of the places he took us. His willingness to make adjustments to our arrival was really appreciated. Temple fire ceremony was incredible. The walking tour of the local vendor street informative and unique. The culture center was great as was the Shinto shrine as well.

Katsumi took us to a local grocery store for lunch. This worked well as there was a large selection of deli items which allow us to select what we wanted at a very reasonable price.

Coming back from Jakarta, we had an 9 hour layover and wanted to see the local area. We got more than we paid for. A local tour guide who spoke English, knew the area and we never felt hurried or rushed to get to the next place of interest. When we go back, we will use his services again.

We would highly recommend Katsumi. Very professional and what a great way to spend in a long layover

“Very Impressed!”

If you happen to have a 6-8 hour layover at NRT airport, you won't want to miss this tour. Why wait around at the airport for several hours when you can see a small piece of beautiful Japan? Depending on how long your layover is and the season, you can choose different tours. Katsumi who runs this small tour company is just fantastic! He knows the area well, is knowledgeable about the history of the area, and takes time to explain different aspects of the tour sights. You get to see some really neat stuff and you can get a lot of good pictures in as well. I really liked the fact that the tour groups were small and personal since I'm not a fan of large tour groups. I was very impressed with Narita Rainbow Tours and would highly recommend it to anyone with a long layover at NRT airport.

Katsumi is an outstanding guide. We had a one day layover in Narita and Katsumi provided us with an excellent six hour tour of the city. He is very fluent in English, having a Civil Engineering degree from UCLA He is very knowledgeable of Narita, is professional and a great conversationalist. He picked us up exactly on time at the hotel as agreed in previous e-mails. We couldn't recommend him more highly.
