A must visit for anyone interested in browsing interesting knick-knack shops or strolling along the harbor. Hakodate was one of the first Japanese ports open to foreigners by Admiral Perry. As such, it has quite a few foreign buildings and a nice port area with old brick warehouses. The warehouses have been converted into shops while the wharf area now houses restaurants and coffee shops. Well worth a morning or afternoon

We have visited the Red Brick Warehouses late in the evening after our trip to Goryukaku. There were lots of souvenir shops and cafes. The ladies would be busy in selecting their souvenirs while the gentlemen would leisurely have their cups of tea in one of the coffee houses thereat. Worth to spend an hour or two in touring around the Bay area.

Only the buildings and nothing much to see and buy. So if you want to do shopping like souvenirs then you can do it there however their price are much expensive compare to others places.

My 1st Self-drive (F&E) tour. My 1st visit to Japan.

Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse is a great place to shop for Hakodate goodies. If you want to buy goodies, this is the place. The warehouse market is so big that you can find a lot of different goodies in this area. We bought a lot of goodies from this area. This area is also near to the sea and with many Red Brick Building. This is a great place for photo taking. Do visit and you will go back again. Don’t leave this place empty handed.
