“THE WORST PLACE TO STAY IN”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

I don't even know why they are open. The place was nasty the rooms were dirty, the sheets were not cleaned in some rooms, there were bugs in the couch in another room. The people who said it was the best place have to be the owner because it was the worst "hotel" I have ever been in. They shouldn't even call it a hotel it should be a motor inn.

We have stayed at the Andes Hotel at least 10 times in the last 3 years. (Maybe more) We love it!! We ski at Bellayre. This is the perfect place to stay and unwind after a hard day of skiing. We usually come up with 3 or 4 families, just the fathers and kids. The kids will not stay anyplace else but here! Sally and Ed are terrific. The bar is great and the food is excellent.
Out of towners and Downstaters (I am from Long Island) have to realize that you cannot expect Manhattan type accommodations when you are staying in the Catskills. If that's what you are looking for then don't travel to this region. If you want simple accommodations and a warm, friendly atmosphere; this is the place for you.

Stayed for one night. It is a small town motel. Cute town and interesting motel. Very small with about 12 rooms total. Rooms are fairly clean and perfect to sleep but not spend the whole day relaxing in. You check in at the bar which is fine especially since the bartenders are very nice. Best choice in Andes.

By all means, eat and drink at the Andes Hotel, but do not stay there. The motel room entrance was filthy. Everything in the room was outdated. No screens on all the windows. I afraid to touch anything, or sit on the chair. No mattress pad on the bed. Bare minimum of comfort. The curtains looked like a piece of material from the 99cent store. Find another place to stay.

We stayed here for one night for a college visit to SUNY Delhi. First of all, this should not be advertised as a hotel because it is a motel -- your basic motor court style.

We arrived later at night and was informed ahead of time that we were to check in and get our room key at the "hotel" bar. The room was large enough but although the website pictures looked quaint and quirky, in reality, they were dated and cheap looking.

In the daylight, the outside was somewhat more appealing. The front building resembled a historic house and the street was lined with some cute shops. We ate at a little local diner that was adorable and had good food.

Would I come back here? Probably not. However, if I was in the area, may stay again because choices are extremely limited.

We stayed there in winter of 2011 and it was very nice for a catskills motel. Effort to give the rooms a nice aesthetic, considering where it is and the price range involved, gives this place a better rating from me than your average catskills motel/inn.

Staff very friendly.

We stayed here as part of a summer trip to the Catskills....as we don't ski, we think the best time to visit this beautiful region, as it's beautiful and lush with growth from all that water! Coming from the arid West,

Just about everything said in these other reviews is fairly accurate. The room was fine, quiet, and comfortable. It was also pretty clean. However, outside the room, more attention could have been paid to sweeping up the cigarette butts and other debris...not a lot of attention to those details here. But that was a small point in an overall pleasant stay.

Andes is a great place to stay in the Catskills. None of the crowds and pretensions of Woodstock, with at least occasional non-New Yorkers around, and also near other towns well worth visiting (Delhi, Margaretville, etc.). And this hotel is smack dab in the heart of this very quaint and scenic town. Walking distance to a lovely park, the town pool, and other attractions. The Hotel appears to be family run, which also gives it a personal touch.

The restaurant and bar at the Hotel also appear to be the center of summer social life in Andes, which made it interesting for a visitor. Out in the back, various activities are scheduled (such as horseshoes, darts, etc.) which draws the locals for a drink and some fun. Not to worry: it breaks up fairly early. The bar was a pleasant way to spend some evening hours, as there's little else to do at night (which was fine by us). Do be aware that cell phone reception is problematic in Andes (which locals in other towns appeared to know about), and Internet access is possible only in the bar/restaurant (also fine by us).

Andes is well worth a stay, and this is a good place to do it.
