I wasn't expecting a lot from their service since it looks like it's meant for tourists. But I was wrong. Stayed there on 3rd January, town was quiet and most shops are still closed from the New Year. We parked our car literally right beside the reception facing the lake. Front desk guys were fantastic and friendly. We were surprised that most of the guests are locals, so that's pleasant. No sore sight for tour buses.

Included dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Onsen bath was also comfortable. They have free welcome tea, coffee, and soft serve!

Totally stoked and surprised by the quality.

Room tip: Face the lake

The best location in Lake Akon between a ferry pier and the main shopping street. Walkable distance to Ainu Village. Our room faced the lake and had the most open lake view in the area. It was very bright and airy and of good size. The hotel offered free coffee and ice cream during certain period in the day which is quite nice. Hot spring was good but nothing special. No wifi in the room but only the lobby but the data volume seemed insufficient to serve more than a few guests. The room rate was rather pricey. We tried the Japanese breakfast which was one of the most basic. I recommend only for the view.

Was given a lake view at the highest floor. Awesome view of Lake Akan. Room was a bit worn but the main problem we faced was the bad smell in the toilet. Our friend's room next door was worst in the toilet. We ended taking baths in the basement Public bath instead. Pillow was very small and flat to my liking.
Hotel staff were good but English seems to be a problem to them. Had to use broken Japanese to communicate. The hotel had overseas guests that comes in bus loads but most stayed only one night. Location is good though and it's right next to the ferry terminal. Unfortunately, the cruise doesn't run in Winter.

Room tip: Request for lake facing in advance.

Chosen this hotel as to visit the Lake Akan and also to experience the typical Japanese culture. This is a ryokan concept/theme hotel (traditional Japanese inn with tatami-matted room and communal bath. As mentioned in earlier comments/reviews, the hotel is a bit old and nothing fancy. Overall, the experience with this hotel was pleasant.

Location: It is about 4 hours drive from Furano. There are several eateries and souvenir shops across the street. Lake Akan is just behind the hotel. The view is awesome.

Check-in and -out: Acceptable. Both processes were done in about 10 minutes.

Room: Japanese standard where the room and the bathroom are small in size. Cleanliness is acceptable. Air-conditioner not functioning very well and we felt a bit stuffy especially coming back from outside.

Communal bath: A very good Japanese culture (taking bath in naked) to be experienced. You have to wear yukata and to bring the bath towel from your room. Full set of toiletries provided.

Wifi: No in-room Wifi provided. Wifi access only available in the hotel lobby but it is very slow speed.

Staff: Staff are friendly and efficient. They are with limited proficiency in English. Simple communication in English is not a problem for them.

Parking: If you are driving, you can park your car at the parking area besides or behind the hotel building. It is free of charge.

the hotel itself is outdated so don't expect anything fancy from neither the room nor the onsite onsen. There was a misunderstanding with a payment for booking a night cruise, and unfortunately the staff did not help resolve this issue. So, double paying for something didn't make us happy. We should have requested a receipt but didn't think something like this would happen in Japan out of all the places.
