By the free shuttle bus you can access the hotel easily. The shuttle bus will pick you up at the Jr Chitose station which is 2 stations away from New Chitose Airport.

Everything is good at the hotel:staff, food view, etc. Not far from the hotel there will be small community where you can have lunch, and some quite nice place to have coffee.

Only one disappointment at the hotel is there is no wifi even in the public place , but the public bath is nice though.

Room tip: Deluxe twin room is large with good view.

Loved:
- The welcome. The staff carefully explained in excellent English how dinner and breakfast would be served, the various onsen options (4 of them - super private, semi private, public, and the one in our room!) and layout of the hotel over a welcome tea in our room.
- The beautiful kaiseki dinner and the lady serving us dinner who was so passionate about walking us through each course, even though we could not understand much of what she was saying.
- The massive room (living room and dining room).
- The onsen in our room (of course, at extra cost).
- The shuttle bus (collection point 5 mins from Mitsukoshi, Sapporo).
- The rest area outside the 2nd floor spa and the hotel gift shop with some locally made gifts (handy when there's no time or opportunity to shop outside).

Less keen about:
- There was indeed (see an earlier review) the slight smell of smoke in the room.
- The hotel has a slightly dated feel (90s) such as the hotel bar (where we had a limited selection of 90s style cocktails), the public onsen (the base of the pool was very rough and could easily take one's skin off), and the general decor / furniture of the hotel.
- At a price of JPY15k (that's USD1k) for four people all in, it reasonable value and so these niggles do deserve a mention.

All in all, a good hotel but one that could do with a little investment to stay competitive.

We had one of those special rooms with a private onsen in the garden. The room was huge with a large sofa in a separate living area; a separate traditional Japanese dining area and a separate sleeping area with 2 western beds. The garden was tastefully decorated with the private onsen, giving a feel of tranquility. The price includes breakfast and kaiseki dinner for 2 daily with dinners to be taken in the room. We were so looking forward to these dinners and they did not disappoint. All the dishes were beautifully presented and the menus thoughtfully put together. Each portion was of bite size as it should be, and the overall quantity was just right for me and my husband although I can see others may feel a bit peckish. The lady who looked after us did ask if we need something to eat before bedtime but we declined.

Our room was a tag too warm for us. We turned our fan to the max and temperature to the lowest to no avail. We also had cigarette smoke pumped into our room via one of the air vents. This was extremely unpleasant as we are non-smokers. I understand all are smoking rooms in this hotel but to allow cigarette smoke to travel from one room to another was a major disappointment, I would have given a 5-star rating otherwise.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the manager of the hotel, 林 良太again for his help and kindness during our stay. I fell ill on our very last night of stay and was eventually taken to a hospital. The manager of the hotel drove down to the hospital and acted as a translator for us. We did use the google translate quite a bit but he was a great help and a great comfort to us as we are unable to Japanese and the staff at the hospital don’t speak English. The manager took us to a nearby pharmacy afterwards before driving us back to the hotel. He allowed my husband to use his computer as there is no internet service for guests in the hotel, brought breakfast into the room for us the next morning, and arranged a late checkout for us the following day. The whole incident was traumatic enough as we felt absolutely helpless in the hospital. We are very very grateful for his help during the whole event.

After seeing all those good review, I was expecting a lot. My pickup service from Chitose station was very prompt. Their command of English are better than a lot of other onsen, our server was very nice and friendly . Our room was the special room with our owe hot spring, the room is very large area wise, with separated room with two double beds. The room has a small garden, and very nice when you sat in the hot spring and relax.

Unfortunately, the temperature of our room got very warm , so warm that my husband was unable to have a good night sleep. We did asked the temperature to be lower but it couldn't be corrected. When you couldn't sleep you looked up to the ceiling, there you can see a great big water stain all black looking back at you.

We paid extra for the more expensive dinner, first the amount of food was far less than other onsen, the menu that was shown to us was change too. Finally the extra special dinner was just two piece of crab sushi, that was very disappointing.

The location of this hotel is very good, just next to the main street and the lake. If you drive, there are around 10-15 parking lot just in front of the main entrance of the hotel.

We drove our car to the hotel. When we got off our car, the staff of the hotel immediate came out and help us to take our baggages to the lobby of the hotel. You can get a glass of delicious welcome drink while you are waiting for check-in.

We stayed in a room on the 2/F. It is in fact a combination of 2 rooms: 1 Western twin room and 1 Japanese "tatami" room, which can accomodate 4 people. The room is tidy and neat. It is quite a pity that although the room is facing the lake, we can't see the lake as it is blocked by some trees.

The public onsen is on the basement floor. There are 2 public onsen and 1 cold water bath. The environment is good but I think the water temperature is not hot enough.

Our room has a private onsen, I think the private onsen is more comfortable as the water temperature is much higher. And I feel that the onsen water in the private onsen is "smoother" (if you know what I mean) than the public one.

There are two restaurants in the hotel. One for ordinary Japanese cuisine and another one for grilled (BBQ) food. We tried the latter.

The restaurant is small and there are several compartments as well as a chef table where you can see the chef preparing your grilled food. We were arranged to dine at one the compartments. The dishes are delicated and delicious. The atomsphere is relaxing and enjoyable. Although the waiter was not fluent in English, he tried his best to introduce every dish to us. The seafood is fresh and the beef melts in your mouth! We spent 2 hours having our dinner.

Staff will prepare your beds in the Japanese style room when you dine. The beds are confortable and we had a good sleep.

Breakfast is tranditional Japanese style, many dishes which are, again, delicated and very yummy.

Highly recommend this hotel if you want to try a traditional Japanese onsen hotel. Staff are welcoming and the environment is relaxing. The room rate is more than US$750 for 4 people per night which may seem pricy, but having considered the quality service and delicious food we had, I think it worths.
