We did not have much of a choice as most hotels in vincinity were full. The airport hotel was terribly expensive (wanted to charge me US$400 for my family of 4 for a room!) so we settled for this hotel for US$130 which offers a free shuttle transfer to the Chitose airport next morning at 6.30am (you need to book this with the hotel). We got a large Japanese room (2 small rooms) so was rather spacious for us by Japanese standards. Room was fairly clean and futons comfy (though we had to lay this out ourselves - no problem). Not much English spoken but we get by. The staff were friendly and tried their best to help. I made my booking by emailing directly to the hotel on their Japanese website. Response was fairly prompt (2-3 days) in simple basic English. When we check in, they made a mistake of booking us 2 small Japanese rooms instead of 1 large one - but this was quickly sorted out and we got our large Japanese room. The corridors were rather musty smelling (smoking?) but the room was pretty okay. It was definitely good enough for a 1 night stay near to the Chitose airport for the price paid. Many restaurants nearby walking distance, including a convenience store. Walkable to the train station too.
