This park which is very well laid out and much larger than expected has both plants & birds to see. Like most attractions in Japan it's spotless and well organised. The birds were good as was the owl show, and I'm sure kids would love both, but for my group it was the greenhouse that was the star of the show.
We visited on a very cold day when it was snowing and walked through the door to be confronted by a huge conservatory (supposedly the biggest in the world) full of blooming begonias & fuschias. I can think of no better word than spectacular to decribe the colours and size of the flowers and plants - it really defies description !!
If you're in Matsue & like plants flowers, it's really worth seeing. You need to take a bus from Matsue station, then a small local train to the park - about 40 minutes if you time it correctly - only other option is about $60.00 taxi fare. The tourist info centre at the station will give you timetables.
