Excellent location, close to train station and lots of places to eat near by. Room was large and clean.
We had a massage chair in the room which was a bonus. Bed was extra hard! But you do get use to it after a while. We had to ask for soft pillows and the staff brought them up to us straight away. In house Laundry was good. No problems with wifi.

At check in you get a map of the area, shows what to see and eating spots. We ate at the Chinese restaurant across the road Hanaya - excellent.

Lovely staff, friendly and helpful.

Would stay there again.

The hotel seems to have a problem with its name because both spellings appear on and around the place and caused us to wonder whether we had the right hotel at first. .
However the reception was welcoming and efficient with a very handy local map and other needed information being offered before being asked. Our corner twin room was quite spacious with convertible sofa, desk and work area but, strangely, no luggage stand. The beds even seem to be a size larger than the Japanese standard although they are on the hard side (softer versions available on request).
First impression in the bathroom is a maze of doors but, like Russian dolls, each one reveals something new: a couple of closets, good size bathroom and separate toilet. There is an in-house pay laundry and fast wifi + cable.
A good breakfast selection is available for a bargain ¥840 – really you’d be hard pressed to do better outside.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the East Gate of Shin-Okayama station, indeed you can see the hotel building from the station if you know what to look for.
Okayama Castle and Korakuen Gardens are a further 10 to 15 minute walk or you can get a tram just half a block from the hotel. The hotel-provided map also recommended some local restaurants of which we tried three and they were all good – for value and food.
From our experience you’d have to try hard to find anything to complain about with this hotel.

Room Tip: For plenty of room pay a little extra for the corner twins.

Thank you very much for the five star review!

We are sorry to make you confused about the spell of the name of our hotel.
"Kooraku" is our logo and "Koraku" is our name to be used for web-site mainly,
because in this way the name of our hotel can be pronounced closer to Japanese pronunciation.

As we have more visitors from abroad each year, we have decided to spell like this recently for the guests from abroad to be able to get the pronunciation correctly, and also to be searched on web easier.
So when it is shown up as Logo, it comes always with two Os; Kooraku,
and for the internet and others in general , we spell with only one O.
When you search our hotel on web-site, you can enter Okayama Koraku Hotel.
Thank you for your comments, we will improve our web-site to be hit by both spellings.

We look forward to having you stay with us again.

We travelled by Shinkansen [bullet train] from Hiroshima to Okayama and walked the short distance maybe 5 or 6 minutes to the hotel. We had booked on the net and checking in was easy, we found the staff very helpfull . The room was not a bad size, warm and comfortable. We ate out that night and slept well. Next morning we were up early for a nice breakfast then went for a walk to Okayama Castle which is not far away. When we booked out they allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel till later in the day as we went of by a local train to visit a friend. As soon as we got back late afternoon they went to get our bags as soon as we walked in the front door.
Good spot to stay with nice helpfull staff , would not hesitate to stay there in the future.

Stayed for 2 nights (~AU85/night booked direct)

Good:
- close to Okayama station
- staff quite friendly
- free bicycle hire (3 hours - enough to explore the garden and castle)
- good sized room

Not so good:
- bed and pillows very hard (but these can be changed if requested)
- free WiFi however there was no signal in our room - router is located next to the lift

Great location, only a couple of blocks from the train station, so easy walk. We booked online and couldn't figure out what the different room configurations were so booked the "Hollywood" room...it was fine...there were rooms advertising "massage chairs", would have loved one of them, but the Hollywood didn't have one :-( Never the less, they did have an English guide to local places to go in the near vicinity, including restaurants...we went to a great one down the road...unfortunately I don't recall the name, but the guide had a few to choose from and if we were staying longer we would have been happy to try more recommendations. One catch...as it was now autumn the air con was preset to warm, it was too warm and they gave us a plug in fan, which provided some relief, but shame they couldn't adjust.

We found an incredible deal on tripadvisor, which somehow took me to a few different links. We finally found a link that allowed us to book a room without doubling the price for my husband and I (very common in Japan for the rate to increase or double per person added).

With that said; the proper spelling for this hotel is Kooraku. We booked online, called to confirm our reservation, and showed up a couple of days later. Upon arrival there was an employee outside of the parking garage directing the hotel guest traffic. The parking structure is the car elevator type, so you unload right there, drive your car in, come out from the structure, and your car disappears until you need it again. Take the ticket and present it to the reception desk upon check in. We drove a Toyota Vellfire, which fit perfectly. We paid $7 per night.

The entrance door to the lobby was about 100 ft away. Once you enter to left, otherwise the doors to the drug store will open next. Check in was a breeze. An English-speaking woman came out, checked us in, and asked if we wanted our complimentary sandwiches right then or the following morning. We took our sandwiches, wrapped up, and went up to our room.

The sandwiches were a real treat. They were legit sandwiches, not something that just came from the 7-Eleven. We were each given a sandwich box with four half sandwiches--egg and ham, chicken cutlet, and two other kinds...enough to hold you for a couple of hours.

We are Americans living in Japan, so we've become accustomed to the tinier Japanese hotel rooms. The size of this room was good for us, no complaints. The beds were big and comfortable, but the pillows were traditional Japanese, and it didn't cross our minds to call the front desk to ask if they had other types of pillows. The thermostat wouldn't cool the room down, so the room was also warmer. We were on a high floor, so we weren't bothered by the sounds of traffic.

The room was clean, enough space for our overnight bag, we had our own bathroom, and a clean shower.

A drugstore is conveniently connected to the hotel, so you don't have to go far for a bottle of water or some snacks, and the prices are the same as any other convenience store in Japan.

Within five minutes in any direction from the hotel you'll find restaurants and little places to shop.

You can expect kind, courteous service here, and a good Japanese breakfast on the second floor for about $8.

Room Tip: We asked for a non-smoking high floor, and noted our request for an English speaking person at the r...

This is a very comfortable and well located hotel. We booked a corner room, which was of a good size. The bathroom was functional with a shower over the bath, although the bath towels were small and the fluffiness was long gone. Our room was very hot even though it was November. Upon enquiry, it was suggested that we open the windows, as it seemed that the aircon was centrally controlled and in fact was turned off.We could not make much sense of this.

If toast or maybe a danish constitutes a Western breakfast, then there is a Western breakfast, but that is about it
