Close to the JR station which is what I look for in a Japanese hotel in the city, easy to walk from the station, just straight down and a short right turn visible from intersection. There is a convenience store at the corner of the hotel called Love or something which is what you see first from the main street. Just ignore the dubious name, it is filled with lots of useful stuff. The hotel has a nice display of art on every lift lobby floor and a nice smell. (smells like some kind of aromatherapy scent). Also the lift is card access which provides additional security. Lots of food choices at the street across and in the station nearby. There is even a 24 hour McD on the main street nearby if you have a craving for burgers.
The staff has pamphlets and brochures in English for the major tourist attractions which is very useful.

This is a great hotel next to the canal walk, close to the train station and the famous Korakoen Gardens and castle. Easy walk to both ends of the main street which is also served by trams and buses. The lanes in the vicinity of the hotel come alive at night with lots and lots of restaurants. Takushimaya Dept store is accross from the train station, and the food halls are a wonderland. The hotel restaurant is a strange attempt at authentic old style decor. The breakfast buffest is cheap and plentiful, but they cater mainly for Japanese breakfast tastes which won't suit everyone. However, there were lots of buns, croissants and pastries!! Room service is truly limited. But the hotel is spotless. Staff are superb, friendly and attentive and the rooms are really big and generous floor space by Japanese standards.

Room Tip: Ask for extra pillows as the supplied ones are very small

We lashed out on a corner room no smoking and loved this place.
The girls and staff were charming and delightful
A little walk down from the station but there's trams and cabs if you have a load to carry.
Mini mart / pharmacy adjacent. Walk out and turn in any direction for food and meals
Walk or tram up the road to the castle and park / gardens
Check out the underground garden at the big intersection on the way to the castle ( go down stairs to cross over)

Beds were comfortable.
Yes TV limited but thats a good excuse for an early night
This was a hotel we could go back to as a base for the whole area
Not just Okayama

we spent 2 nights here in the corner room. The room is exceptionally big in japanese standard and well equipped. Not sure if the hotel was recently renovated or it is well maintained, i felt like it is brand new. Location is great, just 5 mins walk to jr station and major shopping mall. The japanese style breakfast is yummy and value in money!

Recently stayed here for 2 nights. Was extremely pleased with the room. Very spacious and clean. Can't say enough about how value for money it was. Only downside, there was no pay tv. Stucked with all the local channels and that was pretty boring since we couldnt understand. Pillows were too soft and thin. Feels like there isnt even a pillow.

Otherwiese, this hotel is excellent. 24/7 convenience stores nearby, endless number of restaurants in close proximity and its near to the main Okayama Station. Staff were friendly and approachable. And of course, its very competitively priced.

Tip: Ask for the non-smoking floor if you cant take the smell of cigarettes.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel, very well located in the city center where all restaurants and shops are 2 mins walk, as well as next to the main station. Business-style hotel, with helping and cheerful staff - always willing to help ! We used it as our base camp to visit Kurashiki and the country side.

Free wifi is included. Highly recommended !

The Okayama Koraku (or Kooraku as on the hotel letterhead) is a welcoming hotel. The staff are friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Location is great, being a five minute walk from the train station and close to the centre of the city. The room we had was a good size by Japanese standards and excellent value for money. All up, we'd be happy to go back to the hotel and recommend it to other travellers.
