“Among the Most Amazing Places to Stay in Japan”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

Stayed at Ochi-kochi in Tomonura for 2 nights. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a private hot tub and shower on one side with views of water. On other side was balcony with view of water. The Japanese dinner was amazing and best we had in Japan (they do serve a Western breakfast). The town of Tomonura is wonderful forgotten gem from the Edo period Highlight of our trip to Japan. It worth a side trip and about 15 kilometers from Fukyiama train station. We were the only non-Japanese, and the no one seemed to speak English which turned out fine because service is excellent. If you visit Japan, a MUST experience along with Kyoto..

Room Tip: Get a room with a private hot tub overlooking water

This inn was a gem! It was a little offputting to come down a small alley to get to the entryway, but once inside the service was exemplary and the rooms were lovely. The view from our room over the bay to the shrine on the temple was fantastic! The private bath could be reserved whenever you wanted and it was a beautiful, traditional Japanese style bath. Take the meals included package because the meals were the best we ever had, and I'm a picky diner! Seven course traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner. Absolutely worth the price, and it wasn't cheap.

Room Tip: Room with a private bath overlooking the bay!
