“Traditional Japan”
Reviewed May 21, 2011

Tomonoura is a small, traditional fishing village near Fukuyama city. I recommend going here if you want to see an authentic unspoiled Japanese town with beautiful scenery. There aren't a lot of attractions as such but it has a great atmosphere, old traditional buildings and amazing views of a unique part of the Seto Inland Sea. I recommend going to Taichoro which is a building originally used as a guesthouse for visitors from Korea. It has one of the best views in Japan. There are a lot of small rocky islands in the sea around Tomonoura and the area was the inspiration for Hayao Miyazaki's film "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea".
