This restaurant is in a shopping centre. As a lone business traveller, it was easy to enter. The food was decent, and reasonably priced. The young waitresses are efficient and attentive. Unfortunately, half-way through my dinner, I caught a whiff of cigarette smoke. Two tables down, a couple were happily smoking away. They kept smoking throughout the rest of my time in the restaurant, probably chain-smoking 4-5 cigarettes each while I was there.
As this is a modern restaurant in a shopping centre with no windows, I assumed it was non-smoking. Little children were in the same section as the smokers. The smell of tobacco totally ruined the dinner.
I asked the chef when I left if there was a no-smoking section, and he took my question the wrong way, replying "Feel free to smoke anywhere!"
In 2018, it is incredible that such indifference to care of food and customers' health still exists. Japan is so caring and modern in many ways, but this pandering to smokers in restaurants is a disgrace. I won't be going back here.
