This well-sized zoo in the Izy peninsula which is not much visited by foreign tourists is a gem. It has a remarkable collection of animals, mostly small and cuddly ( no lions, tigers, elephants or polar bears here) including many species that we had never seen before. Many of them roam wild around the park area, seem very relaxed with humans and one can get up real close. There are also quite a few that one can touch and feed ( the zoo sells suitable feed for 200 yen). A real pleasure for people who like animals. This should be lots of fun for children too.
