“Good for short stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

Located just next to Niigata railway station which is the terminus of Joetsu Shinkansen. After exploring Nagaoka on previous day, I stayed here for a night before heading east to Fukushima.
It is very convenient to get to especially if you have a large suitcase to carry around.

I had a deluxe single room which was very small and with my height of 6", my feet touched the wall at the end of my double bed. My attached photos tell it all.

Good for short or transit stay.

I stayed at the Niigata Chisun Hotel in mid-August and it was quite busy, perhaps due to the O-Bon festival. It was my third time staying at a Chisusn hotel, the other two times being Nagoya and Utsunomiya, and it was a comparable experience.

The Chisun chain provides good value for money. It is a good business hotel for someone who just needs a place to sleep. My room wasn't very big, but it was relatively clean and functional.

For me the best thing about the Chisun chain is that they have an English website that allows you to make online reservations without any down payment. When you arrive you don't have to show a credit card and can just pay in cash if you like.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the Niigata Chisun is attached to the main JR train station. There are also many shops and restaurants around the area if you're looking for a bite, a drink, or need to do some shopping.

Otherwise, the area around the hotel is not very pretty (see picture) and is a bit far from the river and sea.

The hotel is about a 25-30 minute walk from the Toki Messe Convention Center, or you can easily catch a bus or taxi from the station.

The Chisun is not a luxury chain, but if you're just looking for a place to stay in Niigata (or other parts of Japan), it fits the bill.

Room Tip: You can book your room on their English website.

The hotel is extremely well located accessible from Niigata Station with a covered walkway. There was a drizzle the vening I arrived and I did not even get wet. The room is clean (as expected) and has everything you need (including a razor and a comb, though a little small.

with such a heavy suit case on hand, it was a relief that the hotel was just a short distance from
the shinkansen exit. only draw back is that there were stairs that needed to be navigated with the weight of the suit case.

lobby is a bit dizzying but the room size was just right and it had a view of the city. to add a little personal touch, there was a ladies amenity bag waiting for me on top of the yukata.

In addition, there was a face mist machine and a double edged mirror. everything a lady would need to pamper herself.

I stayed at the Chisun hotel Niigata with my husband when visiting Niigata for a conference, and I was a little worried after being unable to find any English reviews at the time!

I needn't have worried. The hotel is literally attached to the train station, although it isn't signposted from the station or any of the platforms, which meant we got a bit lost trying to find it after a 22-hour journey!

The room was very small and compact but extremely comfortable and cosy, and very clean. Rooms include everything you might need as a traveller, including a little pack containing soap, shamoo, a toothbrush and toothpaste! All corridors have vending machines with hot and cold drinks.

Despite being right next to the busy train station the room was very quiet and we both slept very well while there. The view of the mountains from our 9th floor window was lovely too. The buffet breakfast is slightly on the expensive side (equivalent to about £15 per person, per day) but very nice, although personally I'd recomment trying the big bakery on the opposite side of the station instead.
