Vibrant and modern, this hotel is great for a short stay.

The hotel is located in a pedestrian street (confusing for taxi drivers) and is well located (close to the gardens and palace).

The hotel is over 9 floors, with larger suites on the top floor. Our suite was on the (top) 9th floor and included a kitchenette and seating/dining area. The suite was big by Japanese standards and also provided access to a balcony (shared with the other suites on the floor).

The suite also came with a washing machine (cold wash only) and drying rack – with washing liquid provided.

The suite was bright, comfortable and clean. It came with a “smart phone” providing access to free local calls, internet and Google maps (a fantastic idea).

The staff are very helpful and most speak reasonable English.

A real plus is the Music bar (and restaurant), with a DJ playing an eclectic range of music, from rock to classical, in the evening. The bar is busy at night with both residents and outside guests.

The breakfast service is limited with a few Japanese and western basics only.

The only issue we had was with Wi-Fi access, however, we were immediately provided with an individual Wi-Fi hotspot to resolve the issue.

This hotel is highly recommended.

Room tip: Suites are on the (top) 9th floor and include a kitchenette, washing machine and seating/dining area

This Perfect located hotel in Kanzawa downtown area, is great. Nice and clean rooms, great beds, helpful and nice staff and a very good restaurant. And not to forget the cool musicbar, where they played vinyl record all night long :)

Kanazawa is a very pleasant city to wander around and the Kaname Inn is perfectly positioned.

All three geisha districts, the samurai district, the castle, Kenrokuen garden, the 21st century art museum & castle are all within 15 mins walk max. There are also loads of places to eat/drink very close by (if you like craft beer you'll be in your element). We had considered staying near the station but glad in the end we opted for here instead.

Our room (a standard on the 8th floor) was fine. Very comfortable beds, decent bathroom, a view of the distant mountains and the town. It wasn't big and lacked much hanging/storage space, plus there was no safe which was a bit annoying, but it did the job for a three night stay.

At check in breakfast was offered for 800 yen each per day with two sittings (7am or 8.30am). We went for it. Choice was limited (juice; tea & coffee; soup; curry & rice; boiled eggs; toast and jam) but to be fair space is limited too for 800 yen it was reasonable value. Just bear in mind you might want to give it a miss if you want more choice or something different.

The music bar is nice and quite lively in the evenings (though we couldn't hear a thing on the 8th floor even when it was in full swing).

All the staff were pleasant and helpful and we were happy with our stay.

I was impressed with the customer service and amenities offered at Kaname Inn Tatemachi. There is an eco-friendly room cleaning option which comes with a coupon to use at the bar/restaurant downstairs. My stay also included breakfast every morning. The hotel is 9 stories tall and set back from the street. It has a wonderful view of downtown Kanazawa and even the mountains in the distance on the roof deck. All the toiletries on could need are available. The room I stayed in was very clean and modern. At night, the area downstairs is a music bar/lounge. It's very classy and they seem to have a large collection of vinyl records.

The location is perfect for anyone visiting Kanazawa. Most popular sites are within short walking distance including Kenrokuen and the Castle. There is also lots of shopping and restaurants in this area. If you need a late night (like really late) snack, there's a convenience store just a few paces down the road that's always open.

Comfortable stay, great staff, classy atmosphere.

We have been travelling around Japan for a couple of weeks now staying in a number of hotels and I have to say this is my favourite, it’s modern with all the amenities I would ever require, it’s spotlessly clean, the staff are extremely helpful and it’s in an amazing location, what more do I need to say? Amazing, thank you.
