While no meals are served at this family run ryokan, basic Japanese style accommodation is provided. A short bus ride from the station. The loop bus, JR bus and city bus 11, 12, & 16 originate from the train station and make stops near by the ryokan. Bungo speaks good English and is extremely helpful with travel info and recommendations for dining. All bathroom and shower facilities are shared. The basement bath provides evening soaking after a long day of sightseeing.

Stayed here for one night, but I wish it had been for longer!
This is a lovely ryokan in a fantastic location in Kanazawa (down the road from both castle park and omicho market) and easy to get anywhere from here. The ryokan itself is beautiful, comfortable sleeping, and has a stunning onset that is for individual use, available every night in addition to the main showers.
Above all however, is the help we received from Bungo. We were able to store our luggage before and after our check in/out hours, and provided with information sheets on food places nearby for both breakfast and lunch/dinner. Every recommendation was amazing! Bungo himself rang one of the dinner restaurants (manmarumaru, his suggestion which was spectacular) made us a reservation, and when the restaurant said that they don’t speak English, he organised for us to have the chefs recommendation without pork (since we don’t eat this). He also told us everything to do in Kanazawa, including booking our tour at the Ninjadera temple (which is superb and needs reservations at busy times) and explaining exactly how to get there.
Both Bungo and his mother were fantastic hosts, and I will certainly be coming back when I’m in Kanazawa again!

This ryokan is definitely well located with all main attractions being within walking distance. The mother and son who run this ryokan are very kind and offered great recommendations for restaurants that are frequented by locals. They also kindly offered to call for any bookings we needed, as my husband and me do not speak Japanese. There are also bikes on location that can be used at no charge which was really great, especially on our last day in Kanazawa when we didn't have a full day to visit. Comfort and clean made this ryokan an excellent choice. If you have mobility issues, just be aware that stairs to the second floor are quite steep and that communal showers and washrooms are on the first floor.

Walking distance and central to main tourist section of Kanazawa. (Walking distance to four of the six main attractions.)

When we first walked in it wasn’t an extravagant, fancy, nor super-polished up ryokan. However, the place is kept up very nicely. It is clean and the son and mother is very homey and helpful with a neutral temperament that is easy to talk to. They have a working system that can accommodate many.

They do have a communal bathroom system though. However, the wash closet was always clean. The shower room is clean too. The tub smelled a little musty, but that is probably because it is not vented via a window. We usually don’t do communal bathrooms, but for their general cleanliness, location, and their service, we are left with no complaints. (๑❛ᴗ❛๑)

Their breakfast was really good too- but make sure you get at least one breakfast meal at Kanazawa’s famous “Omicho Ichiba.”

After staying there, I see why they get their rating.

My husband and I stayed three nights in this beautifully presented ryokan. Bungo and his mother were so incredibly helpful with any of our enquiries. We loved having access to the bikes which was just brilliant as we spent a day riding to the various districts instead of walking everywhere for a change. Bungo’s recommendation for a wonderful sushi place around the corner (Kobei Sushi) on our last night was spot on too. I highly recommend this place for a truly traditional Japanese experience.

Room tip: Great location and very peaceful
