Not my first time to the Dormy Inn Kanazawa. Glad to see it has not changed much. The beds and bedding provided are still as comfortable as I remembered. The location of course, is good, being just 3min from the train station and bus terminal. Access to the rest of the city is easy and handy from this hotel.

The onsen is generously sized and unlike other business hotels, came with a rotemburo and a sauna as well. Laundry was free too! Breakfast spread was generous and comprehensive - more so than other Japanese business hotels. Enough variety to keep you fueled up for a day of sightseeing. Excellent value for money, the Dormy Inn is fast gaining my vote for the best business hotel chain.

Spent 3 nights here, and have no complaints. The rooms were clean but uninspiring: it was very much a standard business hotel, which is well kept and affordable. The onsen on the roof top was nice, with both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as sauna. Staff were polite and efficient, and I liked the jug of free coffee kept just outside the restaurant. The location was very convenient - just minutes walk from the train station, and from there you could hop on the 'loop bus' to see the key tourist sites. I faced the street, but still the room was quiet.

We stayed briefly in Kanazawa and unfortunately had very cold weather and heavy rain. We have no real comments about the city but can certainly recommend the Dormy Inn. Very convenient to the train station -- about 5 minutes walk and entrance right opposite a side entrance to the Forus mall (keep out of the rain!). Hotel room was good size and comfortable (twin room booked). Staff were always helpful and lent large umbrellas! Good value for money, with many cafes and shops in the malls conveniently located in the station itself.

Room Tip: Our room was overlooking the road but there was no noise at all.

We arrived at the Dormy Inn a few hours early, so we dropped our bags off and wen t sight-seeing. We returned at 6:00pm, only to find a long queue registering. So we joined the line. It wasn't long before we had registered and were in our room. Our bags had been placed there during the afternoon. The room, a twin bed, was of a generous size, clean, modern and comfortable.

During our stay, we had breakfast at the hotel, used the coin laundry and had a massage in the spa. The breakfast was a reasonably priced buffet with a choice of Japanese or European food. The laundry had many machines and was very cheap. The massage was very relaxing and in a suitably comfortable and atmospheric room.

Despite the hotel being full of, primarily, Japanese business men, it was very quiet and restful. The hotel's staff were very welcoming, accommodating, cheerful, and helpful. The hotel's close proximity to the Kanazawa Station was also very convenient, especially given that we were toting heavy bags. All in all, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Twin rooms are larger.

The title says it all. We visited Kanazawa at the peak of their sakura and festival. Arriving in the evening without accommodation booked. We knew the Dormy Inn rated well from a little online research on the way but, once off the train, we headed to the tourist information to find out what was available. We were in two minds about staying near the station or closer to the gardens and castle. Accommodation was heavily booked but the Dormy had a room, which the tourist information staff booked for us.
I must say, in our experience of travelling around Japan without pre booked accommodation, going to the station tourist info offic!e has always seen us in excellent accommodation, ranging from small, traditional ryokans to large hotels, like the Dormy Inn. The hotel management usually send a vehicle to collect you. Not required this time, as the Dormy inn is a block from the station.
Perfect location, the train station is also the start point for the city loop bus that will take you to all main tourist spots. Only 500yen for a day ticket. We had no trouble finding a couple of great little restaurants nearby of the izakaka style for a good local experience. Of course, the station area has dozens of restaurants to choose from.
Speaking of food, don't miss the Omicho (mainly seafood) market for a browse, snacks and fantastic sushimi for lunch.
Back to the hotel. Great service. Excellent breakfast buffet 1,100 yen). Our twin room was of a good size. Larger than average. Wifi, cable, large tv. No bath in the room (only a shower) but this is not an issue as the top floor has beautiful onsens, pools inside and outside. Relaxing, rejuvenating , ambient piped music. This is a standout feature from someone who loves an onsen. There is also a Masseuse on hand. Very tempting @ Y5,500 for an hour.
The hotel name hints at something pretty bland in Englsh (dormitory) but could not be further from the truth.

Room Tip: Twin rooms are usually larger.

My review will always be from a family point of view as we travelled with 2 children aged 9 and 3 years.
We took two rooms and were allotted one twin and one double room which worked for us as we had a baby as well. However, I would reccommended going for the twin room as larger, for the same price I think.
The staff is extremely helpful and do try their best to help you despite the limited English.
The onset on the 14th floor is bliss, and even the kids can go, with lockers and shishiedo shampoo and body wash, and moisturising lotion and all after bath paraphanelia required.
They even have massage which we wanted to try but didn't get a chance.
Location rocks as few mins from station, hop on hop off bus which is fabulous and the forums shopping mall which has some very different and nice shops compared to the US and Europe.
The only issue I had was that the a/c remote was in Japanese and I could get it to work in terms of mode or some air strength etc as a result my room didn't cool and I was claustrophobic so didn't sleep too well.
Also with kids if one need s large rooms, then it may not be for those of u.
Would suggest getting someone to sort it out for u if u need a/c on in time before going to bed.
For USD 160 per night for 2 rooms, it was too too good.
All in all would surely stay here again, except Kanazawa didn't feature too high on my list as we were too early for Sakura which will reach full bloom only after couple weeks, and without that I didn't think it was worth it.

Room Tip: Twin rooms bigger than double room.

We stayed at the Dormy Inn in a cold March week. It is a great location for accommodation being just a minute or two walk to the rail station and buses. This is such an advantage for touring around this area.
The hotel itself has everything you would need. Clean and with efficient and accommodating staff.
The rooms are pretty comfy with most mod cons. One annoying feature is the custom of leaving an entrance light on all night. Not sure of the reason why and unless you take the bulb out it remains on all night. There is a sliding door that separates the bedroom to the front door so you can actually blacken the room but it is a strange thing to have in a bedroom.
Breakfast was pretty expensive but has both Japanese and western selections. We chose to have one brekkie in the hotel and one outside at the many restaurants available.
The location is great being right across the road from some incredible shopping and eating as well the hop on and hop off bus which is a fantastic way to see around the town.
