We were a little uncertain what we should think about the hotel as we arrived (the lobby and restaurant / shop area is very big and touristy). However, as we saw our big room (European-style), we were def. sure to be at the right place :-)

As mentioned, we had a big, clean room with everything you need and overlooking the city. The hotel has 2 onzen's, one on the roof and one in the basement, which are heavily used by the big groups arriving every evening by coach.

Overall, a nice stay in a big, but nice rooms offering hotel...

Room Tip: European-Style room

This great hotel was handy to the station and had large, well-appointed rooms. It offered pool and Jacuzzi facilities which are very welcome after a days sightseeing. It offers both French and Chinese restaurants in house as well as a very reasonably priced laundry service. The main street is just a couple of short blocks away but you are on the end of it. Still we did not find it a difficult walk to the town centre. There are an ample number of cheap eateries nearby so venture into the neighbourhood.

We stayed here as part of a longer tour of Japan. The train ride to Takayama is breath-taking and we saw the last flush of the Sakura blossom. Just a short walk from the station, this hotel is very convenient for all the sights in this compact town. If you can, do visit the Saturday market by the river - such variety. Also brilliant to see such large Koi in abundance in the river through the town. Only surprise was the temperature - chilly - but we forgot how high the town os in the Japanese Alps. On our last day (22 April) we awoke to heavy snow, so be prepared to be surprised in this lovely place.

Room Tip: There are two wings, and it seems westerners a placed in the South wing, but this is no prob as its not far to the Onsen and Restaurants

Stayed here for 5 days this winter. There are 2 wings and I stayed in the South wing. Just so that you know, it is NOT a 5 mins walk. It's just a perfect distance that you don't want to take a cab, but will suffer dragging your luggage specially if the snow has piled up. But the stay is worth it, so please do walk.
The room size is plenty by Japanese standard and if you compare with the smaller hotels in Takayama. They do not have WIFI but have cable if you have the laptop, so internet is free. If you don't have anything, they have paid internet service in the lobby priced at 10 mins for 100yen.
Room has all the Japanese standard stuff as water heater, Japanese tea, few Japanese sweets. The bed was bigger in size than usual single room beds and very comfortable. The pajamas provided were so comfy. I like the style as it was not robe style, but the top and bottom are separate like pajamas. The top is a Japanese kimono style and bottom like pajamas. Great to sleep in. There was a coffee table and chair as well if want to watch TV sitting. Work desk was very comfortable, enough to write and keep a laptop. There was a fridge also provided in the room. In case you needed ice for your drinks, they have free ice on the 4th floor.
Bathroom is just great! Lovely shower and spacious bathtub. They provide all the necessary things like brush, shaving kit, shower caps, body soap, shampoo etc. The toilet is a washlet which has become standard facility in most hotels in Japan.
Please use the bath on the higher floors.
The food was also great. We had breakfast as well as dinner and both were buffet style provided in the north wing 1st floor restaurant "Bonjour". Plenty of variety, western and Japanese food.
Over all experience was just GREAT! I will be happy to stay here again.

This hotel is only a short walk from the station and to all the main sights of this pretty town. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. We were in a "Hollywood" room, somewhat retro but we loved it.The rooftop hot baths allow you to gaze at the stars while bathing.
We had an excellent "american" breakfast in the coffee shop the next morning that was very good value. There were several big tour groups staying here which meant the public areas were bustling with with people and noise in the evening and early morning.
