Fantastic views, passing temples and picturesque sites. Highly recommendable. Try starting at the city so as to pass every site. A map is very important.

One walking course, many temples! Takayama is often called little Kyoto. But unlike Kyoto, you get to see a lot of temples and shrines in a shorter walk with a lot less crowds. The entire area feels like you have been transported back in time.

It is a walking course that connects all major sights, temples etc. in Takayama. It is a nice stroll

After we'd seen the more obvious touristy parts of Takayama we followed the signs and map for the walking course. It takes you through some of the exclusive residential areas and some more shrines. Some of the signposting is very confusing though - especially when you finally get up to the park and the signs appear to take you in a big pointless loop round the large play-area - so keep your wits about you!

As other reviewers have noted, the walkway threads its way through shrines and residential areas, through cemeteries and temples. It is filled with interesting sights. The pathway is not marked clearly however, and we would have got lost if our trusty guide hadn't known the way.
