This exhibition is really unique. It not big in size a such, but set-up in such way, that it in a fairly short time frame nicely displays the Japanese history of Festival Floats.
A guide give you a tour around the hall, where the Festival Floats are exhibited. That works well. It is difficult both to listen to the guide telling about the individual floats and the development of these over time as well as enjoying the extreme beauty of these, who both took many resources to build as well as to carry around.
There was not so many people there - I think that was a mistake. This is a must see if you visit Takayama for 24 hours or more!
Note the entrance ticket also covers the Sakurayama Nikkodan exhibition next door.
