Of course since this is a Best Western, it had a few of the characteristics of a US hotel - large open lobby, giant breakfast buffet, and large (by Japan standards) Western Style rooms with beds. We were a family of 4, so they gave us a triple and we just kinda shared the beds between the parents and the 2 kids (9 & 5). As a guest you have access to a nice spa area (not an onsen, but a regular spa with 3x hot-tubs and a steam sauna) that's divided by sex - you do the typical onsen-style bath-before-you-get-in thing in the showers provided. Breakfast buffet was funny, because about 80% of the guests are Japanese and this was my first chance to see them feasting on an all-you-can-eat buffet...and they chowed down just like we Americans. The buffet included coffee, tea, rice, miso, grilled salmon, spaghetti (!), eggs, croissants, cold cereal, yogurt, juices, muffins...it was a good mix of East/West menu items.
Front desk's English was a bit lacking, but they were helpful. As far as the heating, it was easy to adjust the fan on or off, and open the windows a bit if we got too hot. It was snowing while we were there so the heat felt good!
Also very short walk from train station...just walk straight down the street that heads directly to the station...one block away is all.
