I spotted this restaurant on our way from the train station to our hotel. The little chili pepper on the sign caught my eye as I love spicy food yet most Japanese cuisine does not fill this void. After dropping our bags at our hotel we headed back for lunch. The restaurant is small with only 4 tables and it seems to be a one man show with a very welcoming and friendly gentleman as the chef, waitress and hostess.
The dishes are made fresh to order and arrive at the table steaming hot. My husband and I had two different varieties of ramen and both agree that it was the best ramen so far (2 weeks in to our vacation). Both were spicy, filled with vegetables and noodles and just what we needed to warm ourselves from the chilly winter air.
I find it hard to believe there are not more reviews on TripAdvisor. This truly is a hidden gem in Takayama that deserves attention- your tastebuds will thank you.
