This was a great find - recommended by the owner of the Ryokan we stayed at. Mainly locals it seemed, with a sprinkling of tourists. Food was terrific and service excellent/very friendly. The HIda beef was very good as was a vegetable dish I ordered (forgot what it was called - fresh vegetables perfectly/tastefully prepared with rice/a bunch of sides). They did not speak much English (although menu was in English), Would highly recommend - better than most restaurants we ate in Tokyo and Kyoto and far-and-away the best in Takayama.
