Loved this little restaurant. The owner was super friendly and it was nice and cosy. He single handedly took orders and cooked for us and a large group of about 10.

We had the enchiladas, con carne, quesadillas and taqitas. All delicious and washed down with some Corona.

We almost didn't come here as we arrived too early and it wasn't open yet - that would have been a mistake!

The owner was very friendly, and we were able to brush up on our Spanish with him! There were English menus available and we ordered margaritas to start - they were good & strong.

The home-made salsa that came with the mains was tasty, fresh, and a little picante.

Good vegetarian options, and a lots of fresh veges too, which was great as we were craving some after eating so much traditional Japanese food.

Was great to find this place hiding in Takayama.

We went here based on other reviews and were not disappointed. The Mexican food is tasty without being amazing. The menu is limited but has all the classics. The owner Chef was busy and committed to pleasing all the patrons and cook all the food. We recommend it if you want a non-Japanese culinary in Takayama.

Great salsa, tasty veg burritos, excellent value for money. We arrived just as the restaurant was opening and sat at the counter. We were made to feel very welcome, food arrived in good time and after we ate we chatted to the owner (who is a really nice guy). Vegetarian friendly.

The owner is the loveliest person you will ever meet. My husband and I arrived for dinner one cold and rainy night and the owner open and closed the doors for us. We were the only people in the restaurant that night and we stayed until late and had a wonderful time. My husband and i both speak spanish and so does the owner so we just stayed and ate and talked. It was one of the best experiences we had while we were in Japan and we got our own private experience of the amazing Japanese hospitality.
The owner learned to cook mexican food when him and his wife lived in Mexico and the food is simply delicious and the price is so cheap we felt guilty not having more cash to give him more of a tip. We will definitely return to Takayama to visit Chapala again.
