“A first class place to stay. We loved it.”

We had a "traditional" type room, and it was terrific. The dinner was wonderful, and the gift shop was fabulous. We stopped at the foot pool to warm our feet too. You will love this place, and the close shopping was terrific also.

Room Tip: Try the traditional room (sleeping on the floor (tatami mats)... I loved it.

It is about a 20-min. walk from the JR Train Station. If you don't want to walk, there is a shuttle near the station. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Japanese-Western style room. One room had Western-style beds and the other room had Japanese-style (tatami) with futons. My kids loved the spacious and clean room! They also liked the onsen downstairs. Western buffet (upstairs) and Japanese (downstairs) breakfast was good (we stayed two-nights). My kids also liked eating ice cream and sitting in the ashi-yu (foot bath) outside of the hotel...I always took the small towel from our room to dry their feet. In July the hotel had a hotaru (firefly) tour for their guests (conducted in Japanese). My kids loved it.

good place to visit to get flavor of the old ways of Japan...during the Samurai era. Nice quiet village. Hotel has many great gifts as souvenir to take home! The weather is very hot during July
Make sure the AC is working @ hotel. Also you can walk to a farmers market where local
venders sell their local vegetables and fruit.. Also you can buy hand made souvenirs there also.
The market is open in the mornings everyday! The buffet @ hotel is very good, many variety
of food Asian and American offered!

Room Tip: Their rooms are good must request non smoking when booking...also try their "onsen" good...

We stayed at the Takayama Green Resort for 2 nights in a Western style twin room and found the room to be clean and comfortable. The room was a great size - the most spacious we've had in Japan so far (which isn't saying much as rooms here are tiny). The only down side to the room was that, despite requesting a non-smoking room, it still smelt like stale cigarette smoke. The hotel itself is very large and has great onsen facilities for both men and women. There are 3 restaurants within the hotel; we tried the buffet dinner one night and found it to be quite good, though a little expensive (as expected from a hotel restaurant really). If you prefer to go into town for meals, it's only about 750m walk away and they have a free shuttle bus which can pick you up and drop you off from the train station in town. Overall we found the hotel to be good value, comfortable and a convenient base from which to explore Takayama.

This hotel is well postioned just a 20 minute walk into the spring festival action down town.
The rooms were of a good size but bathroom was tiny.

Has the largest gift shop in the world attached to it

Traditional dinner was a great experience and breakfast was very good.

Worth a stay

This is a very large hotel with very spacious suites. We stayed in a Japanese style suite and would recommend it highly to others. It is a little out of downtown Takayama but not too far. It has the largest souvenir, drink and food shop I think that I have ever seen. We would stay there again and recommend it to others.

This is a big hotel with two very nice (and not at all crowded) onsen.
In the late mornings ! was colpletely alone in the female onsen.
The japanese rooms are nice but a bit old.
We had dinner included in the price, but did not like the food that much though...
