“We weren`t impressed”

Nagoya City Science Museum

We found this museum to contain far too much click a button and watch an explanation video. It is more of a playground for kids than a place where you will really interact and learn a lot, unless you have virtually no knowledge in these area's to begin with. A few of the exhibits where you could interact were either mundane or not working properly. There are some interesting things to see, but it felt like a small city attraction which wasn't worth our time. We took the time to see everything, experience many labs, but still left unimpressed. If you have time to spend indoors in Nagoya, I would recommend the JR Train museum (worth the trip), some of the cities shops, or Nagoya castle over this attraction hands down. Also, expect a lot of kids running around uncontrolled during the day and plenty of dating couples in the afternoon until closing. If you fit in those two crowds, you may enjoy this attraction more than we did.

this is a nice science museum for the kids. near subway (about 2 blocks). very inexpensive (kids <12 free, adults 400 yen). lots of hands on stuff. don't need any japanese, most stuff is obvious. good for at least a few hours. didn't do planetarium based on other reviews. no food inside, so bring some or wait until after you are done.

This outstanding facility really caters to children teaching them about various sciences. 7 floors high, each level is geared to an individual facet. Our main reason to visit was to see the planetarium, but as others have stated on here that no english is spoken so you must be fluent in Japanese. I say fluent because the speaker leading the presentation in the planetarium is speaking some quite technical language regarding outer space. Not a video.... Most of the other attractions are VERY interactive and so simple that children can operate and learn from. Children are always free and the cost for adults is super affordable as well. A must see if in Nagoya.

Unfortunately we didn't manage to see the whole museum before it closed, but we were intrigued. Most of it looked like it was made for younger people in mind, and not a lot was in English. The planetarium was so and so because they only speak in Japanese, but I'm sure it is very interesting if you understand what they say. Did not regret that we came here.

I will rank it the number one visiting site as I am very fond of scene. The demonstration of scientific explanations are simply awesome. And you don't even need English explanations for them If you are from science background. They have lots of collections also.
