Located next to Botanic Gardens, the zoo has a pretty setting and has good facilities.

Enclosures are too small, and some animals are confined in cages. Animals seem stressed, prowling to and fro.

Good selection of birds, and cats. Main attractions are the snow leopards, pallas cat and bird enclosure, though I would not recommend patronising zoo unless they can improve their facilties and treatment for animals.

I think animals are not so active specially gorilla and kangaroo. But its a good experience for me to visit and get introduced with new animals.

Zoo and the botanical garden is worth a day visit. There are large number of animals including vivarium and aquarium for freshwater fishes. The cages seems quite spacious. Further they have an elephant museum which demonstrates much about elephants in attractive way. they have big dinosaur statutes and dino lovers will love that. They have sky tower where you can get in and view all around Nagoya as well. There is a small lake and can experience paddle boating. They have a sky train where you can ride around the zoo and botanical garden. park is lovely in sakura season too.

some of the animals at this zoo do not seem like they are happy and especially the polar bear looked like it wanted to die and my friend who knows things about animals said that when polar bears dance, which we had seen it doing, it means they are dying. so that was not exactly a nice thing.
Shabani the gorilla is very famous for being extremely handsome and every japanese person that i told i went to higashiyama zoo was like did you think he was handsome??? he looks weirdly human and that translates into being an attractive man i guess.
