“Nice room and good location”
Reviewed October 3, 2009

This is a very nice hotel located right by the train station in Nagoya. The room was large and there was a great view of Nagoya Castle from our window. We landed at Nagoya airport, boarded a train to Nagoya train station, and it was right across a small street, although there may have been a direct entrance from the hotel to the station. The tea and coffee setup in the room was included and it was good the next morning. Front desk service was exceptional.

Have used the Marriot a couple of times now and have found it to be the best suited to european business needs. The rooms are well laid out, not too big but enough to not feel cooped up. It's clean and functional with the usual Marriot decor and tone of voice. Room service is very good for late night meals and the breakfast is pretty good (try to chef for the omlettes).

The location is well suited for venturing out for food or shopping, there's plenty in all directions. I'd recomend 'Inoteca' in the Toyota Tower opposite, it's for those who want a taste of italy after weeks of good sushi. They do a fusion style and the deserts are real fun to watch being made.

Overall it's my preferred hotel for business trips when in Nagoya.

I went to Marriot (Nagoya, Japan) on business.
It is located next to main railway station, giving a magnificent view of the Nagoya city.
The best part is that the hotel staff members are very honest and courteous.

I purposely booked this hotel in the middle of a month of travel through Japan as a break from unfamiliar hotels and traditional Japanese inns. It was perfect for that purpose, but it is a beautiful hotel in its own right. There is nothing Japanese about the hotel at all, but the service is certainly up to Japanese standards. You can't go more than a few feet astray before a staff member will rush over to help you.

I booked the room through the Marriott website and got a great rate for a Superior Twin on the 41st floor. The bathroom was very luxurious with a separate shower and high-end amenities. The room was comfortably furnished, but still had a tube TV which was odd in high-tech Japan, but really does it matter? It didn't to me. Anyone who thinks this hotel is overpriced has never stayed in a big-city luxury hotel because let me tell you I would have expected to pay a lot more for such a large room in a beautiful hotel like this. I was surprised that we were charged a lower rate than what I had originally booked. Apparently the price had been lowered and they automatically charged us the lesser amount.

We had a city view that was beautiful day and night. We could hear some noise from the trains below even on the 41st floor, but it wasn't bothersome and didn't keep us awake.

As mentioned, the service couldn't be better. The staff helped us forward our luggage to the next hotel and were very nice about it. Everyone we dealt with spoke very good English. We received an English language newspaper every morning at no charge.

The food in the huge casual restaurant off the lobby was very good and reasonably priced for a hotel like this. There are many less expensive options in the train station shopping area below the hotel, so you aren't restricted to the hotel's offerings by any means.

When I booked the room the website said that internet service was complimentary, but there was a sign in the room stating that a "NEW" service was available and there was a charge of about 50-cents a minute with a maximum of about $15 a day, which is outrageous in this day and age. I called the front desk and asked nicely about it and was told right away that I wouldn't be charged because I had booked before they started charging. I expected to have to fight about it at check out, but no charges ever appeared on my bill. However, do be aware that they are now charging for internet access. That would keep me from booking here in the future unfortunately. No other hotels we stayed at during our month in Japan charged for internet access.

Other than the internet thing, I would highly recommend this hotel for the location alone. Everything you need is right there in the building, but even if you never leave the hotel you still have plenty of food options.

The location of this hotel is very convenient because it is directly connected to Nagoya station which has plenty of restaurants and department store.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are not very new but still acceptable. The surface of tiles in bathing area is coarse and dark tone which give a little disgusting feeling to me.

The hotel offers beatiful scenery of Nagoya city because all rooms are on the high floors. Staffs are polite and speak understanable English.

I stayed at this hotel because it is practically connected to Nagoya train station. I paid about $250 a night for a very small room with a very nice bathroom. I was quite dissappointed to find out that the spa/fitness center has a very limited hours of operation. Since I checked in at 8:00 pm and checked out at 7:00 am, I was not able to take advantage of the fitness facility. The hotel has a very nice looking lobby, and most of the front desk staff can speak English. Since it was raining the day I traveled, it was nice to be able to get to the train station without going outside at all.

Hands down the best hotel we stayed in in Japan! 5-star hotel indeed!

The hotel is above the Nagoya train station so it is in such a great location. Imagine, right after leaving the JR shinkansen turnstile, the hotel is just a few meters away. Don't worry, the lobby is no way near the crowd (it's on the 15th floor).

The hotel is part of a complex whose 12th floor housed dozens of posh restaurants to choose from.

Underneath the train station are rows of shops and restaurants. Everything was within arm's reach. I actually underestimated my stay in Nagoya. This is a good place to shop.

The hotel is also just across the Toyota building, and a few train stations away from Nagoya castle.

As for the hotel staff, my wife and I were relieved to finally be able to communicate easily with them. If you've been to Japan, you'd know how difficult it is to communicate via english with the locals, including staff of some hotels. But here in Marriot Nagoya, the staff spoke understandable english.

The room was spacious, elegant and had a spectacular view of the Nagoya skyline. The sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable, it was a great room.

The bathroom was also spacious, with shower and bath tub, and complete bathroom amenities.

The complimentary breakfast was scrumptious. The coffee shop had a spectacular view of the Nagoya skyline. The food selection was wide (asian and western dishes). Great tasting food!

My wife and I have nothing bad to say about the Marriot Nagoya Associa, except for the room rate.

But hey, for the amenities, the accessibility, the space, the luxury, hey, it comes with a price, right?

So if you are staying in Nagoya and have the extra cash, we highly recommend the Marriot Nagoya Associa
