Overall a great place to stay and probably the best base from which to see Aqaba / Jordan should you want to travel around, you should definitely consider this hotel or the Kempinski (next door)

The good:

- The rooms are very nice and spacious, comfy bed, big bathrooms, balcony, safe included etc
- Free wifi which extends into the restaurants and rooms, but not really the beach
- The staff were great, always courteous and happy to help, especially the room cleaning staff. The reception staff less so, but still helpful.
- Good food in the restaurants (if not expensive)
- Large swimming pools
- Good size hotel, doesn't feel crowded and you can always find a good spot by the beach

The bad / annoying

- The hotel management have upsell targets to hit, despite the hotel being less than half full for our stay, they wouldn't dream of upgrading our room and offered to do it for 10 JD a night, this within 5 minutes of arriving, quite annoying that they're more interested in hitting targets & squeezing every last penny out of guests rather than leaving a lasting good impression.
- Additionally I'd recommend not booking any trips / excursions through the hotel, as the prices can be a lot more than you can pay by doing it yourself. Getting a local taxi to wherever you need to go is the way to go.
- All the hotels in Aqaba have "private" beaches, so the beach is about 200 metres wide, so don't expect long walks along the coast. Additionally as one reviewer mentioned, a lot of guests smoke on the beach and put out their cigarettes in the sand, we saw the staff cleaning it once a week, but it's difficult to get small items such as used cigarettes
- Another reviewer mentioned this, but you do get locals on boats & jet ski's who pass nearby the hotel causing waves & annoying sunbathers / swimmers in the sea, but the hotel has no control over this.
- Don't expect much in the way of added extras, you get 2 free small bottles of water each day for the beach, but should you require any more it's £2.50 or 2.5 JD. In 47 degree heat the hotel shouldn't try and profit from keeping their guests hydrated!

Aqaba itself is great, lots of good places to eat and very reliable warm weather, Jordan as a whole is quite expensive, I'd advise to do as much planning as you can before as to traveling around the country and what you're going to see.

One final point is that a lot of people have been put off going because of what's occurring in Syria, don't let this put you off at all. We traveled the whole country and saw absolutely no impact at all, if anything now is the perfect time to go as it's quieter than usual.

Room Tip: The "side sea view" room, means literally that, if you look straight ahead out of your room you'll see mountains, but turn your head and you can see plenty of sea. I'd recommend staying on the right hand side of the hotel (as you look to the sea) as on the left hand side your view is a construction site and a flat roof with hundreds of pigeons.

This is my 5th stay in the Intercontinental Aqaba. This time I stayed with my wife and kids and we had excellent time. Since I am a priority Club Member I had a priority check in and got upgraded to a club room. Staff in all hotel sections is very friendly, polite and helpful, service is excellent. Swimming pool area is clean and well maintained. Since the pool and beach area in the hotel are large than you can find quiet spots and you don't feel crowded, even if hotel is full.

we had a deal with breakfast and dinner. Both had very big selection of food, tasty and very good quality.

one thing that need to be improved is the cleanliness of the beach area- the intercontinental has a long beach strap, I think one of the beautiful among all other hotels. Unfortunately, some guests throw cigarette ends on the sand and we also found few plastic bags and beer cans in the water. I think that the Intercontinental should put signs on the beach, asking the guests to keep the beach clean and also, have the beach to be cleaned daily by the beach and pool employees.
overall experience was excellent- we will be back.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour. Hotel let us all check in early which was good.

Our room gave us a part view of the beach and a flat roof......but it was a good size , with pale colour wood which always makes rooms look sooooooo much bigger & lighter. The bathroom was huge , it would have been great to have a walk in showert though, it would have been a struggle for a less mobile person to climb into the bath to use the shower.

We were only able to use the Corniche Restaurant ,as breakfast & dinner were included on our tour. You would had to have been a very fussy person to moan about this, wish I had Chef here to make my breakfast omelette . There was a huge choice of salads, which were great, hot dishes ,deserts and cheese. All presented very well.

We did go and look at the spa but did not use as they are male & female areas, when you have been married/together 40 years it seems a bit silly.

The staff in the restraurant were fantastic , so polite and seemed very pleased when people said Thank You !!!

Only complaint was the price of beer & wine. To pay 38 JD for a bottle that was 8JD in the liquor store was crazy. Tourists would buy soooooooo much more if you made it less money. Intercontinental Hotels Take Note.

Beach area was good, no lack of sun beds , all under posh gazebo type umbrellas. You get towel cards and also get given an ice box with water, which is a nice touch. Beach a bit stony as you go in, I was better with beach shoes on ,it shelves slowly , so no nasty shocks. Water was very clear.

I don't think we would return to Jordan but we would look at intercontinental hotel for another city.

Room Tip: Think you would need to pay a lot to get a good view.

just stayed for two nights. these are the facts:
1. Good location
2. Nice beach and pool
3. very good view if you choose only the room facing the beach with much higher price.
4. Spa does not work. NO WATER PRESSURE. been told been like this for long time due to lack of maintenance.
5. Steam room does not work due to bad equipments and lack of maintenance.
6. Light bulbs burned out in the room, balcony and the shower,
7. Fungus in the shower on the tile.
8. Small bars of soup.
9. witnessed the cleaning person, clean and wipe with dirty clothes.
10.pool close at 8:pm should be at 10:pm.
11. Needed a doctor. No doctor was available to check blood pressure.

Overall I would not stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Call to make sure the spa room and equipments are all working and the bathrooms all sanitized.

I Stayed here with my partner for a week during our holidays. Hotel is truly amazing, great location, nice swimming areas, beautiful private beach. The view from the room not too forget - you are looking at the sea and 4 countries on both sides of it. Staff very friendly and professional, overall really great experience. During our trip around Jordan we stayed in four other 5* hotels around country, including TalaBay, but every time we thought that InterContinental Aqaba was at least one level above any other we experienced in Jordan.
Thanks so much for making our stay unforgettable.
