Just came back from this place, the last night of our stay in Aqaba, we thought we'd try a local seafood one last time, we should have gone for tge falafel shop next door..
We orderd two types of salad rocca and a local one, rocca was good the other was strange! But ok... we then decided to play it safe and ordered fried calamari and grilled shrimp, the fried calamari was soaked in oil, you'd think that you can't go wrong with this dish but apparently you can, big time! The shrimps were again ok, no special taste, it makes you wonder if they were fresh or not...
The fish at the end was the killer... we were advised by the waiter that it was caught less than 2 hours ago, i doubt it! This must have been the worst fish I ever had, rare from one side and burnt from the other one, tastes funny! The restaurant's special spices!! We couldn't eat it.. The bill was for 100 usd... We felt really cheated... I'd consider any other place other than this one...

The restaurant was recommended to us by a local and we must say we were not disapointed. The food was very good and tasty. The first time we visited this restaurant we were the only visitors, but the second time the place was very well visited. Where the service was very good during our first visit, the second time it was a little bit less, however friendly on both occassions. Yes people do smoke inside the restaurant (no wonder in country where 99% of all people smoke) and yes alcoholic beverages are expensive but I have experienced that in all restaurants I have been in Jordan.

Not surprisingly this restaurant is mentioned in all tourism guides we checked and also recommended by the groom at our hotel in Aqaba. And even so this restaurant was much less crowded than the Ali Baba that everyone seems to visit. Maybe because it is less centric, but just a couple of blocks apart. We had one of the two best meals we enjoyed in Jordan (and we like eating!). We took mutabal, shaklish (what a discovery!), 2 breams baked in sauce, 3 beers and 2 coffees: 52,-€ total. Expensive for the local standard but absolutely worth for ours.

maybe one of the best fish restaurant at Aqaba, prices range 10$ ~ 20$ with alcohol. fish quality is great and the salts are even best.

Don't west your time on tourist places like Ali Baba.
