“Not a 5 star experience”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Based on reviews on Tripadvisor and testimonials from friends, we wanted to end our Jordan holiday with a heigh, but it did not turn out this way.

What we liked was the reception service (esp. from the Serbia lady), the rooms, swimming pool and breakfast (except missing fresh orange juice!). Overall the building is nice.

However the white sun cubicles on the beach were crap (aluminium bars to create shade could not be locked (and hence dangerous to hit your head due to the wind) or were missing), the towels were very used. Also, the service in Lounge bar was amateuristic (slow, dropped 2 glasses, took 15 mins to clean up, was poorly cleaned) and the food prices versus quality totally out of proportion. The view was not great given a building site on the right. The beach is basic and not comparable with e.g; Berenice out of town where you go snorkling.

A 5 star hotel should give 5 star experience at every touchpoint else it becomes irrelevant. This hotel gave me the impression to have become a hierarchical institution that thinks that status of building and brand name is sufficient but then lost its touch with the customers.

Food was very good and delicious during the breakfast .but the service need more improvement.

I cannot express how satisfied I was with the quality of the hotel. The room service was great and the turn-down service equally so. The swimming pools are super clean and so is the area around it. thank you again kempinski staff and management.

The hotel has a lovely small beach for swimming. If you want to snorkel, you need to make special arrangements to go out of town. Staff were efficient and friendly. The rooms had superb views of the sea.Although the rooms are clean, they lack a modren touch. were most impressed by the service of the beach staff. Breakfast was great. I would recommend the hotel.

We stayed here for 5 nights at £130 per night, the hotel is everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel however having stayed at many 5 star hotels previously it lacks something that I can't put my finger on, rooms are amazing and all have sea views, breakfast is fantastic and staff are helpful but a bit distant, beach and pool area are excellent, I'd like to have compared this to other hotels in aqaba to see if this really is the best hotel in aqaba if not jordan as its reputation suggests. All said we have had a wonderful stay and have very much enjoyed our 5 nights.

We stayed here for 3 days and the hotel itself is located very well at the sea, has an OK view (it is located near a seaport) and the room was clean. However the service on the beach and the quality of the food was not that good. The service on the beach was not efficient and not a lot of interest was taken to serve clientele for drinks and snacks. The quality of the F&B is below standard for a Kempinski hotel and very expensive. EUR 8 for a half glass of wine which is not th best wine is over the top. We also did not eat at this hotel as Tripadvisor gave better alternative options. The 'ladies in red' were very helpful. the rooms do not have WiFi, only the lobby. however you can connect with a cable in the room. does not help with an ipad obviously. If management would sort out the quality of the F&B compared to the price and also the level of service around the pool this hotel will meet it's 5 star as Kempinski's compared in Dubai for example.

this is a beautiful spot with modern and crisp architecture. rooms are designed and built in good quality. Facilities at the beach and pool are quite satisfactory. Personnel especially at the reception is friendly and ready to help. All rooms share an exceptional sea view.

in brief this hotel is highly recommended for business and leisure type of holidays. No one can beat this place in Aqaba. looking forward to be back soon.

Room Tip: Junior suites are quite functional
