“Excellent hotel, that we highly recommend”
Reviewed December 16, 2011

My husband and I stayed in this hotel from Nov. 20 to 27.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was super: VERY CLEAN, very very well maintained daily (fresh towels twice a day), minibar complementary refilled daily, well equipped and nice view over the sea & Eilat (Israel). The entire staff was extremely friendly and cooperative. Nice swimming pool and beach area.
Food in the main restaurant was of very good quality with daily different and varied dishes (we had half-board). Breakfast was delicious (especially the fresh bread). Leah (at the entrance), Annabeliza and her other colleagues are extremely friendly and give you top service in the restaurant..
One only minus: drinks in bars & restaurant are rather highly priced but we can certainly recommend the red "Jordan River" wine.
This is a hotel we can absolutely recommend - you won't be dissapointed.

Total recommendation. Of course it depends on what you are after but if you appreciate impressive architechual features, clever design thought into the guest experience, beautiful landscaping around the pool and beach with intimate areas (no lines of back to back sun loungers, along with some excellent food then this is a great choice. In general I'm cautious about going to a modern hotel but this one I would call contemporary with the warmth of a boutique hotel. It may have 200 bedrooms but you don't get that feeling, Exceptional housekeeping. Lots of intimate areas, different types of seating from the chilled out bar to the formal Seafood restaurant (outstanding execution and delivery of food and service). Bar snacks whilst listening to live music on the lounge terrace was a great way to end the day. if I have to find fault it was that at times the waiting staff seemed unorganised. A little chaotic at breakfast and on barbeque night - you wondered if there was anyone in charge. That said the staff where charming - so you forgive them but the management need to get organsied.

Regarding location the town of Aqaba is relaxed and far from touristic - makes for a good alternative to eating at the hotel try - Ali Baba. The Royal Yacht club is meant to be good and a short walk from hotel but dissappointing on the night we went.

Not only did we think Jordan a wonderful holiday destination and the people charming but its pretty easy to fly direct from UK now . It is a long transfer down to the Red Sea however from Amman so would suggest a night in Petra or by the DeadSea or at the Spa Ma'in to break up the journey.

Very pleased with our stay at Kempinski Red Sea. We have arrived early (noon) and were notified that our room was not ready which was not a big deal since we had a chance to catch up on emails using wi-fi in the lobby. After relaxing for about an hour, we approached the front desk and were automatically upgraded, at no additional cost, to a junior suite. This was, indeed, a very nice gesture. The modern decor is fantastic, the view over the bay was spectacular, day and night. The hotel was clean and run efficiently. We arrived by a rental car and used efficient valet at no charge. Breakfast was excellent. We used the AM/PM restaurant for one of our dinners and the food was delicious but the service was substandard. Still, this hotel definitely deserves five stars for making our stay in Aqaba enjoyable and relaxing.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of Red Sea

We visited Aqaba mainly to go diving so the hotel was a secondary consideration. However, the setting, facilities and service at the Kempinski really knocked us out. We were really well looked after from our arrival to our departure 4 days later, and the food was really excellent. We particularly enjoyed the fine dining at the Fish Inn, and the fantastic breakfasts. Our room was perfect, with king size bed, bath and shower room (all the rooms have a sea view). We found the swimming facilities in the various pools were great for the early morning. Pia at the Concierge's desk organised our diving, which was brilliant, and gave us lots of useful advice about restaurants and shopping. although the best diving in Aqaba is some 20-30 minutes away, it was good to be based in the centre of the city. If we had one niggle it was that there seemed to be more 'meeters and greeters' at breakfast than people getting on with the work, and it was a really difficult job to get coffee for the table. We usually had to wait more than 10 minutes and ask a second time. All in all, though, a very restful and pampering experience that we could thoroughly recommend - even our car was replete with cooled water and tissues, when the valet service returned it to us for our journey North.
