“Cool atmosphere, awesome snorkeling”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Usually a bit above the cheap-o price point unless you're camping, but we got a good deal on an upgrade from tent to room in the off-season. The room was great if a bit cave-like, with a nice bathroom, comfy bed, and AC. I loved the laid-back atmosphere, myriad hang out spots, and super fresh food. The location is AMAZING if you wish to enjoy Aqaba's incredible coral reefs (literally across the road) via snorkel or scuba dive. In two leisurely days and very little walking, we saw the underwater tank, the sunken ship, and the Japanese Garden. Otherwise the place is rather isolated in South Beach, but the intrepid can walk to nearby Tala Bay Resort for restaurants, beverages, and a grocery full of Western treats.

All in all, Bedouin Garden Village was not a great experience. The staff is nice but not very efficient. (one guy is very good but he is the only one). The communal areas are quite dirty and the rooms are very mediocre. However, if you are choosing this hotel because of its location (beside the beach), you are wrong! It was the worse beach experience ever. Western girls should not go there alone - you will be stared at, harrassed, shouted at.. It's a pity because the snorkling is amazing.

We were two women travellers staying at the Bedouin Garden Village for a week in late May. The look of the place is very appealing, bohemic. Small but nice pool and many guests in comparison to the nearby hotels. The staff helped us with a trip to both Petra and to Wadi Rum, we believe they took a comission for this beacause it would have been cheaper to go there and bargain with the bedouins in Wadi Rum ourselves but still it was worth the money (75JD for a 5-6hour jeep trip in Wadi Rum with lunch and dinner, staying overnight in a tent in the desert and a 1 hour camel ride). The food at the Bedouin Garden Village is okey but doesn't offer much variation if you stay for an entire week. The hotel is close to the beach and has its own diving center that also offers snorkeling expeditions for good prices. The beach isn't very welcoming (though there isn't any welcoming public beaches to find around Aqaba) beacause of men staring and or approaching you so you are better off by the pool - but the chorals are very nice and there's exciting dive sights in the area so it's a good place to go down and do some snorkeling or diving but not for sunbathing. Our only issue with the place is rather a personal one about the owner or owners son Moses (his role at the hotel is not very clear) who were very friendly and helped us with booking the trips to Wadi Rum but became very childish and petulant when we didn't have the energy to join him when invited to dine in Aqaba and so on.. Still we recommend going here, good value! (Please note: the taxis in Aqaba overcharged you and they say the price to go to the south beach to the hotel is between 5-10JD. There is a bus but it leaves whenever it wants to and is hard to find which costs 1JD but it is also common to hitchhike for 1JD each).

I've stayed here twice previously and would probably stay here again. The staff/owner is very friendly and accommodating. They have no problem if you BYOB, and they will even refrigerate it for you. It's cheap and has a lot of character, especially the outdoor lounging areas which are quite Dahab-like. The rooms a mixed bag--first time I had a nice room with great AC, the second time, the AC didn't work properly and it was unbearably hot. But I would probably stay here again and it is much better than Darna Village, which I have also stayed at.

yeah we heard all the stories about dirty rooms and unfriendly staff but our room was spotless and apart from the mandatory smell from the shower drain(don,t think I've stayed anywhere in th whole of asia without this) it was perfect. The food was a little slow due to the chef leaving recently but the rest of the team were doing their level best to keep things going. the food was worth waiting for but the absolute highlight was diving with the Australian run dive shop. Gus and Joey were super professional, friendly and experienced. they keep the equipment in top condition and will do thier best to ensure you make the most out of this fantasic area.
