My friend and I recently stayed at Sleep Inn to catch a hockey game in Buffalo and to do some shopping at Kohl’s, Target, and the outlet malls. It was an excellent location for shopping – very close to everything, approx 5-15 minute drive. Not the best location for a hockey game if everyone wants to have some drinks before and after the game. We had a designated driver, and the drive was about 20 minute, so still not too bad – but $50 one-way if you’d want to cab it. There are some great pubs right near the arena too: Darcy McGee’s and Washington Square…get there early to avoid disappointment – at least 2 hours before the game. You can walk to the arena from either pub.
The hotel itself was clean and well-maintained, and a great value if you are looking for a comfortable place to sleep and safe place to stay. The front-desk staff (and cleaning staff) were very friendly and helpful; we really appreciated their attentiveness. Considering the breakfast was “free” – it was pretty standard: the food selection was ok, the actual seating area was crowded (we were also staying there on President’s Day long weekend so it could’ve just been busier?). The breakfast closed at 10:00 am, but quite a few people were still dining by 10:00…the kitchen staff were very good about keeping things re-filled even though it was closing time.

The room was clean and fairly small. It had a nice flat screen TV and enough storage area for two people. The entry to the bathroom was very odd though: it was a sliding door that didn’t quite shut 100% …so depending on who you would be travelling with, you’d probably want to know the person fairly well. Most importantly, we had a peaceful and relaxing sleep – the pillows and bedding were fine.
We would definitely come back to Sleep Inn Amherst, and would consider a Sleep Inn in other cities if we want a good-value economical stay.More
