From the realistic lion kill, to the biggest bird collection, the oldest fish to the reptiles each display has amazing detail...always lookout for the hidden little animals hiding in the grass or on the rocks. Realistic mines suck you into the natural geology and massive rock collection and spit you out at the kiosk.the hall of man needs to be updated to modern findings such those in Joburgs cradle museum, but the hall of chiefs is very interesting and can't be matched in detail or content by any other museum I have been to. Well worth a trip in the morning or late afternoon give yourself 3 to 4hours for a detailed visit.

New Museum Director Dr. Moira Fitzgerald breathing new life and enthusiasm into what had become a drab museum. Dr. Fitzgerald needs all the support she can get from our Bulawayo Public and out of town visitors.

very interesting and informative. It gave a lot of history of Zimbabwe and its people. Also the animals in the country were described making the whole visit worthwhile.

The animal and bird life of the region is very well displayed and described. Also excellent displays regarding the various people and history of the country. Old fashioned, but well done and in good shape.

The Bulawayo Natural History Museum has a huge animal display; thousands of animals and birds in once-gorgeous displays. Unfortunately it appears to have suffered neglect and though still fascinating, it's sad to see the mounted animals looking so moth-eaten and things run down when the creators of the museum put so much time and effort into it (I remember going as a child, about 12 years ago and being enthralled with it).

It's very much in the style of yesteryear; you won't find technologically current displays - no audio-visual, backgrounds are mostly painstakingly hand-painted - though it is peaceful and I think old-school is charming. I tire of the modern world's obsession with technology, if only it were well-maintained.

Was rather irritated by the woman there trying to charge us US$1 per photo we took, when the "no photo" signs were pretty inconspicuous and they neglected to tell us that before we walked through, even though we were clearly carrying cameras. Not very friendly, sadly.

Still, I would take visitors there to learn about Zimbabwe's history and the wildlife, a lot of good information to be found.
