After I found out that the Bulawayo Club’s restaurant was closed for the evening due to a private function, this eatery was recommended by the front desk as one of the better ones in town. Located a few blocks east of Main Street on 12th Avenue in a fairly nondescript brick building, the restaurant consists of two main open dining rooms and a curtained bar area. I ate at the latter. The menu consists of the usual steakhouse fare with chicken and fish options along with a variety of sides and salads, with most everything divided into “cowboy” and “cowgirl” portion sizes. As I hadn’t eaten that day I chose to indulge a bit, diving in with a large plate of onion rings, Greek salad, a double portion of steak, and a bottle of South African red wine. The service at the bar was slick, the food was decent, and the owner stopped several times during my meal to check-in and at the end to chat a bit about the World Cup, Zimbabwe politics, and the restaurant industry. An overall positive experience and recommended for a good lunch or dinner.
