This is the best hostel in Livingstone for socializing, pool, and general atmosphere. (I checked out all three hostels in the area.) The manager, Maurice, does a fantastic job of keeping the social scene lively and making people feel welcomed. The food at the bar is the typical backpacker / Western fare but it's good and they offer tasty vegetarian and vegan options.
Rooms are nice, if a bit noisey. The bar area is separate from the sleeping area, which is great, but the huts have a mesh ventilation system that allows for alot of noise in just from people walking to the bathroom and back. I highly recommend the camping option (bring a tent!)
However, I'm taking off one huge star because saying they have wifi is just false. In my two weeks there not once was I able to do basic tasks like responding to emails or checking directions. This is not a "Zambia problem" because I had working wifi at other hotels and several restaurants. When evaluating the price of this hostel compared to other accommodation options, make sure to factor in a few extra dollars a day for data or for buying coffees at the nearby coffee shop so you can us thier wifi. That being said, I'd still stay here over anywhere else!More
